Just been having a quick look through the forum and saw quite a while back people had experienced this monitor. I got one fitted today at 7.30 am for 24 hours, every 30 minutes during the day and hourly at night....guess it will be a night without much sleep (my sleep pattern with the M.E is erractic generally).
I know the cuff has to be tight, but after several readings, I had to take it off and try it on the other arm as the pain is excuriating:eek:, it feels like something sharp has been stabbed into my arm! when i got it off to change arms, lots of deep red marks. tried it on the other arm and got a rather alarming reading of 176/103!!!! that's not the usual reading, its literally just above the normal....I do wonder though how accurate these machines are as with allt he readings had so far got 4 readings that show as E (error)
My dr told me I had to take the day off work (I am self employed so not so much of a problem), but to do things I would normally do!!!
Has anyone else used one of this monitors recently and also had the problems?
I would ring the surgery or however fitted it and ask their advice. If it was that painful it may have been fitted incorrectly in the first place. I am sure it shouldn't be painful. Uncomfortable when it inflates to take a reading - but not painful. Hope you can get it sorted
I agree with Tashanie - speak to the surgery. And the arm shouldn't be red like that.
It's posibile the pain is to do with the muscles being so sensitive with the ME. I remember at one time I couldn't even bear being hugged, because they hurt so much.
Hope it gets sorted.
since posting I rang the surgery (the dr fitted it whtis morning) and was told....I must have sensitive skin but there is nothing they can do about it!!! (that's the receptionist view!).I have asked for a dr to ring back got told it will be before 6 pm tonight!

Caroline thanks for your reply, i know you get normal pressure from when the cuff blows up but it then feels like something is stabbing into me- waiting for the dr to ring me back.
not been on much recently, too much going on...thanks re the nut. course, PH very enjoyable and interesting.
product making fun :-), but oh my all that paperwork 🙁

Receptionists are well meaning.......but............ I hope the GP was more useful. The test won't be much use if its causing you so much pain because pain will increase your blood pressure..It may be the wrong test for you.
