I've been afflicted with this condition for several months now; I'd like to hear from others who are trying to successfully cope with PET...The condition is apparently very difficult to resolve, but others have reported it can be done.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
I used to have this I think, and it's nice to have a name finally put to it. I don't think I had it that badly and I only really noticed it when I talked. I'd have to press my fingers just below my ears on the tubes so that I could hear properly what I was saying. I just googled it and it says it can't be cured but mine went away by itself the first time after I started having reiki.
It's come back again slightly - every now and then things sound muffled to me but not so bad so that it drives me mad. I mentioned to the ENT specialist I saw last week and I'm seeing him again next Tuesday so will mention it again and see what he says.
Explain "reiki", please?
Sarah7:
Can you explain what you meant by "having reiki"? I'd be very interested in what this is and how you used it.... Many, many thanks!
By the way, I've got "instant email notification" tagged as an option, but I never received anything, that you posted your response!
Thanks again, Robert
Hi Yorkere,
Reiki is energy healing, whereby the practitoner channels universal life force energy, that is all around us, in to you. The practioner will use methods to channel different vibrational frequencies of energy in to you depending on what you need. Reiki works to heal any energy blockages in you and restore your body's natural balance of mind, body and spirit. The practitioner does not do anything with the energy itself, just acting merely as a channel by laying their hands over certain parts of your body. It's gentle, safe and non-invasive and very lovely to receive.
Hope this explains it in a nutshell but let me know if you need any more info.

Reiki Explanation
Sarah7:
Thanks for this information; how long do these reiki sessions usually last? I'm in the U.S.A. but I'd like to look into it for this condition...Do you recall how long it took for the PET to recede from you after you began the Reiki?
Thank you very much for your responses!
And I'm STILL not getting email notification of responses to these posts!!
Reiki sessions last as long as you need them, but typically between 30 minutes and 1 hour. I can't remmeber exactly how long it took to recede as it was four years ago, and it was one of those things where all of a sudden I realised I wasn't having problems anymore. Possibly around a month or so?

Sarah7:
From your Web site, apparently you are a Reiki practitioner. The fact that you were able to rid yourself of PET is extremely interesting to me; I did a search and have attempted to contact a practitioner here in Riverside, CA, to look into this a bit.
Has your ENT doctor diagnosed your condition as PET? One of the indicators that the condition is PET vice Eustachian Tube blockage is that the symptoms very frequently can be transiently mitigated by lying supine or placing the head between the knees while sitting.
Since this condition has seemed to return a bit with you, do you think that further appication of Reiki would be able to help?

Reiki?
Yorkere:
I wondered if you found anything about Reiki practitioners in Riverside, CA? I split my time between Los Angeles and Riverside, so it would be really helpful to know what kind of alternative (possible) PET treatments I could find nearby.
Also, have you had any success with other suggested treatments? Patul-END, Jia-Wei-Gui-Pi-Tang, Premarin & Potassium Iodine drops in Orange Juice? Also tell me if these failed miserabley for you.
And if they were successful, how did you take them, and for how long, and how long lasting/effective was the relief?
Have you tried surgeries of any kind yet? How did those go?
Thanks! Any info would be appreciated!
Good to Hear from You!

Please see my private email to you....for some reason I am not getting instant notification of response posts

I did find one in Riverside, I can give you her phone number by private email. If you decide to see her, please let me know; I may decide to see her with you. It can't hurt to give it a try!
I'll provide the other information you've asked for in a later post, or by email, if you like.

Reiki Practitioners in Riverside.
Robert,
Thank you so much for the info on the reiki practitioner in Riverside! As for emailing me her phone number, it would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
Let me know if you decide to see her as well, I'd like to know if you find it effective in any way?
I'm starting to think that the PET might have been caused some sort of muscle misalignment some how. I've got tons of stress in my neck right now, and I read somewhere that chiropractors could help. And if it doesn't solve the patency, at least some of the neck tension should stop. Just an idea? Have you tried seeing a chiropractor?
And, yes, could you please answer my questions in another post? If you'd prefer email that's fine with me, but it might be beneficial to other people viewing this post if you answered my questions publicly...

You don't have to merely cope with PET; you can most likely get rid of it with a simple exercise. A guy name of Matthew Baker made a video of the exercise. This website won't let me post the link, but it should be pretty easy to find by putting the key words and his name into a search engine. In essence, the exercise involves constricting the muscles at the back of the throat and moving them up and down. Watch Matthew's Adam's Apple as he demos the exercise. It goes up and down. Put your fingers lightly on your own Adam's Apple when doing this exercise to assure you're doing it correctly. You may or may not hear various noises. I usually get a clicking noise. It could take a few tries to get the hang of it. Do 5 sets of 5 (25) three times a day (total of 75). Take a breath between sets because you won't be able to breathe while you're doing it. It will probably take several days to several weeks to see results.
I had severe PET with autophony so tinny and loud that conversation became almost impossible. Gradually, after 3 or 4 days of starting this exercise, I started noticing improvement. After about a week the PET totally disappeared. I think the exercise somehow repairs and/or retrains the entire Eustachian tube mechanism and strengthens the associated muscles. The exercise is completely free, requires no props, and does not involve medical treatment. If you have PET, do yourself a favor and try this exercise for a couple of weeks before letting some well-meaning but clueless doctor inject questionable substances or objects into your ear. This problem isn't caused by weight loss or exercise. Those are correlative, not causative. In my own case, I feel very strongly that chronic use of NSAIDS (which are NOT harmless) for a back problem was the underlying cause. NSAIDs have already been connected to hearing loss and could easily be the culprit with PET. I no longer touch any of that stuff or anything even similar.
Note: This isn't an advertisement. I have no connection to Matthew Baker. I don't even know the guy. I just happen to think he's really onto something. His system has worked for a number of people, myself included, whereas the medical profession continues to bark up the wrong tree regarding PET.
