Hi Can anyone help please?
My mum has been backwards and forwards to the doctors and hospital with her tongue. (For over 1year)
She is still suffering with it.
It looks like it is very sore and cracked, as if she has burnt it..
She doesn't really complain about it, but again this morning she asked me to call the doctors. I know she is in pain with it.
Can anyone please recommend anything?????
Thanks

RE: My Mum really sore tongue

Hello Tutseas,

I am sorry to hear about your poor mum and her tongue. Nasty!

I have to ask - does your mum eat lots of fruit and vegetables? It might be that she is lacking in vitamins and her tongue is reacting accordingly. She may need some extra zinc in her diet, too. Vitamin supplements taken as part of a normal diet should clear it up.

Please wish her well and I am sending some healing to help her on her way!

Love,
Patsy.

Hi Songstress,
Oh Yeah mum eats 2 oranges everyday and also vegtables for dinner.
She also eats things like ginger biscuits and crisps, do you think could cause her any problems? (Anything spicy)??
She has already taken zinc supplements in her diet from her GP. They did not make any difference. She is now using artifical saliva and a mouth wash. It sounds horrible I know.
Thanks

RE: My Mum really sore tongue

Hi tutseas,

No personal experience, but my Mum had something like this when she had a low appetite, which turned out to be a B vitamin deficiency.

Also, I have a friend whose tongue is sore and sensitive to certain foods (like vinegar). Her dentist sorted her out, is some sort of fungal thing, I can't get hold of her this morning to check the name, but it is something like lichnis planar ( I remember thinking she must have barnacles on her tongue!![sm=nuts.gif]), bad visual sense of humour!!
She uses the Forever Living aloe vera toothpaste and that keeps her ok.

Love and hugs to you and your mum.

Hi I had something similar only it went on my gums as well, couldn't eat anything spicy or salty and I was in agony, the GP said it was thrush as I have a steroid inhaler for asthma and this can cause this, he prescribed me daktarin oral gel and within a few days it was completely clear.

Hi Tutseas,

Well, I did think that this could be a vitamin and mineral deficiency. Sounds like it to me.

Your poor mum! Living with this must be awful for her, but I am certain that if she can replace that which she is lacking, then the condition will clear up.

Love,
Patsy.

Hi Reiki Angel,
Oh yes my Mum has Pernicious Anaemia and she also gets the vitamin B injection.
And I think she has a folic acid injection.
We went to the doctors again yesterday and she has been prescribed Daktarin oral gel.
We will definitely get some Aloe vera toothpaste.
Thank you guys for your help.
LOL

Hi there!

A sore tongue can be one of the signs of anaemia so you may have found your explanation. I hope the remedies can bring her some relief. Perhaps if she steered cleared of acidy foods such as the oranges it might help as these could aggravate the condition. Happy birthday to your mum! [sm=grouphug.gif]

PS not to mention crisps - rubbing salt in the wound and all that!

RE: My Mum really sore tongue

Hi Tutseas

My daughter has this problem. It was first diagnosed by her dentist not our GP.
Her tongue looks like it has been burnt because its patchy (ie. no taste buds in some areas).

We were advised that acidic fruits would cause her pain and they do so she tries to avoid them as much as she can. She also cannot eat banana's (ripe) or pineapple (pineapples are worse than oranges).

She does use a gel to help ease the pain, but mostly avoids these types of foods.

Hope your mum finds a cure soon, as I know how painful it is.

RE: My Mum really sore tongue so do I!

Hi tutseas and everyone

I've just found all the messages about tutseas' poor Mum's sore tongue. For the last 4 months I've had a similar problem myself and I'm getting desperate. I've tried so many things including treatment for oral thrush etc etc. The soreness is more like a burning sensation but the WORST PART is that it is accompanied by aweful hot flushing from the neck upwards, making me perspire and feel generally dreadful. My GP is perplexed.

Has anyone come across any connection between tongue soreness and hot flushes? I'll look closely at the other suggestions sent to tutseas but please can anyone help me?

Hopefully, Chas

Hi all,
This situation in TCM theory is call ying & yang unbalancing, in another way, is called body channels dis-harmony.

To read more about ying & yang:

you can read something about the tongue and there is also a tongue diagnosis exercise at the bottom of the page as well:

If you are interested, you can walk in any Chinese herbal shop near you for a free consultation.

sore tongue

I have ulcerated tongue when I over do acidic foods. Plus if I am under stress. I have found that when I spray my tongue with colloidal silver in two days sometimes one it is healed up. It is natures antibiotic but you need to watch the amount you use. Ask health food store manager what is the best way to use it. I also swear by vinegar but have to watch how much I use because it can give me a sore tongue also. I have been drinking apricot tea which helps change my acid balance to alkaline levels. I have a tape that I put under my tongue to ck acid levels. That tells me when to watch what I am eating. hope this helps
