hello all,

I havent been on this forum for months and now that I scroll through it I realize what an amazing forum it is.

right, about 1 month ago I had eye surgery (laser lasik femtoseconds) and that was quite traumatic. people say it isnt painful, but it was. the eye succion was the worst.

so the next few days I had very red and itchy eyes but that was to be expected, except some people report being just fine after. I had conjonctivitis 4 days later. I didnt react well to the different eye drops prescribed to me (more allergy) so I was finally prescribed some new brand (Zarleg) anti allergic drops with no preservatives in them and that sort of soothed my eyes...

but since then, I have what feels like mild conjonctivitis and migraine regularly!

I have no idea what starts it.

Prior to having the eye op I had dry eyes (when wearing contact lenses and sometimes at the end of the day) and I think the surgery has increased the dryness (testimonies of people with dry eyes then having the eye op certainly show that the problem worsens....I was very stupid and didnt research this properly before the op. I truted the surgeon, silly me). but 2 eye doctors I saw since said it was an allergy I had, not dryness.

anyone in this similar situation?

I think it could me many things: cold air, hot dry air (radiators), sugar (not even supposed to eat sugar! candida diet), pets (hope not, I keep my pets no matter what) ...?

being trained in reflexology, I sometimes give myself reflexology and certainly it has helped, but after 2 days it comes back (I guess I could give myself treatment every day for a week and see).

many thanks to all.

Dear Fadette,

It certainly sounds like it's the surgery that caused it as otherwise it would be quite a coincidence. OK it may be a reaction to the drops but then that should clear up once you stop taking them.
Lasik is used very widely as you know and generally assumed to be safe for most people. But I fear it maybe one of those things that have gone mainstream before long-term studies could be done. I guess you have now found out how many people report problems afterward.

I too have had surgery but because my eyesight was so bad that LASIK was not an option, I went for lens implants. 😉 For me that worked fine with no problems and it's something that has been around much longer. I'm still young though and who know what will happen in years to come. But I guess there are just no guarantees on anything in life.

Could be that the surgery has lowered your bodily systems & your body is so focused on getting you better that it's letting what is normally OK for you effect you negatively? Maybe it's your body's way of dealing with the situation?

OR it may not have anything to do with the surgery & is just coincidental

Have you been wearing any eye make-up yet? If so throw it all out & buy new cosmetics. I had a friend who was keeping getting conjunctivitis & it was her make-up that was infected. Every time she wore it, she reinfected herself. She threw it out, bought new pencils, mascara etc & not had a problem since.
Or if it's a brand new piece of make-up....you could be allergic to that.
Could be a cream too...check everything you're putting on your face.

Same with food. Tried anything new within the last month? Could you have an allergy to that. Some shell-fish makes my eyes swell (nothing else, just my eyes) so I have to watch what seafood I eat.

That's the only things I can think of. However, I have looked into getting the same surgery & a lot of people seem to suffer the same afterwards & develop dry eyes. One of the reasons why I've stuck with glasses & contacts!
Keep looking into other peoples feedback to the surgery as they're the people I think will be able to give you the answers you need. Hopefully it's just temporary.....

I hope your eyes clear up soon!

thanks a lot.

Oliver, that s right, I think that s exactly it, this surgery has lowered my system and energy.
and given me the allergy which could be my body s way of dealing with this un-natural trauma. I seem to have those itchy eyes anytime it s random, inside, outide, eating hardly nothing before.

Sootica, the face cream is definitely making me hurt more. however I feel any cream near the eyes would and I dont want to stop putting cream around the eyes and get more wrinkles! 🙂
I hardly wear make up these days so it isnt that but I will I think renew it all, just for the fun anyway haha.

Dont go there, dont do the surgery, I d advise anyone against it! keep your glasses and I wish I still had mine and not those strange eyes that make me worry. but be careful, people have a 20 years "capital" of contact lenses wear, after that they risk blindness. wear them occiasionally if you can.

I cant go online to read other people who ve had the surgery. I did it and had panick attacks because the symptoms were mine except had evolved into nightmares. I just cant go back onto those forums.

thanks for the support, and remember, dont do the surgery! I think it s all about money and I cant believe they sell it (even in hospitals they advertise with posters) as a health thing, it isnt. it s like medication.

I made a mistake and try to learn from it.

Hey there....The actual surgery is not painful, however if there is difficulty gaining the appropriate suction on the eye this may cause some discomfort but this should not last long after surgery. my cousin got it done at accuvision in london and boyy..she is so happy after that..... u can get the details at Laser Eye Surgery | Laser Eye Treatment | Lasik Eye Surgery | Accuvision UK - Clinics at London, Birmingham, Leeds

all the best
