Hi everyone,

Recently I have been feeling my eyes really tired. I went to the vision express website to look for some tips and they say they recommend having an eye test once every 2 years. The last time I remember going for an eye test was about 4 years ago!! I am worried that I might have any eye problems. 😎

You have sort of answered your own question - if you are concerned, then go and get checked.

I've just replace my glasses after 15 months and Spec Savers. I was little concerned about having to have new lenses so quicky, but having glaucoma in the family it's well worth doing.

I think far too many people neglect their sight, but most opticians seem to be good at sending out reminders.

I confess I only go when my current pair of specs are so scratched or damaged that I have to have a new pair!! 🙂

I have my eyes tested every 2 years, my prescription changes so slightly that unless I want a new pair of glasses or the lenses are scratched, I don't bother. I had my eye test last month and I have to admit I thought about putting it off a while longer, but I'm so glad I did. It seems I have developed high eye pressure and have been referred to the eye hospital to be checked for glaucoma - without going for an eye test I wouldn't have known.

So my advice is go at least every 2 years (the optician will tell you if you need to go more frequently), it's not just about whether you need glasses, it's about good eye health.

Most optitians will recomend that if you are in good health you should have your eyes tested every 2 years. However if you are Diabetic they should be done every 12 months. A good optitiam will always advise after a test when you should have your eyes tested again.

But as we tend to know our bosies well if you are unsure about your eyesight for the sake of a few quid just go and get them checked.

The eye test should be done every 2 years unless the optician tells you to come back sooner.

The eye exam checks the health of the eye as well as the prescription, Things like glucoma and diabetes can all be picked up by looking in the eye. As well as anemia and other medical conditions.

The amount of people that don't go because they dont think they need glasses, so there is no point. Is astounding, Having worked in that field for some years the lack of respect people pay their eyes is amazing.

There was one lady who wore hard contact lenses (probably about 15 year old lens ) she took them out at night and didnt put them in a case, oh no she used her shoes !!! left lens in left shoe and right lens in right shoe. I kid you not, and then she washed them and put them in her eyes. Probably didnt even use proper solution.

I urge you to go regularly to an eye exam, you only have one set of eyes.
