Had my eye Cataract op done wednesday 02/04/14...
quite straight forward and more uncomfortable than anything.. then yesterday started to get a "flickering" around my side of my left eye which has increased and becoming very annoying..
Has discovered it is Negative Dysphotopics according to web.
Anyone else suffered from this and how long does it last for..
Eye clinic never explained Blah blah..
infact.... I don't see anyone until 5 weeks time, when I have to arrange a appointment myself to see someone ..IE a optician..
is this correct??? is this normal???. I was expecting at least a follow app to see someone at eye clinic.. but no.. Bit unnerved by this now.
Hi CrystalSeer
Sorry you're having problems. My Mum had both eyes done on the NHS last year but didn't experience this. Bit surprised you don't have a clinic post op appointment, she had to go in both times after the optician check.
Didn't they at least give you a phone number in case of problems/questions?
My neighbour had this procedure done in December and experienced similar problems to you within 24 hours - he rang the eye clinic and they said it would 'settle down and come back in 8 weeks'. Instead he rang our local high street spectacle shop (not going to name the chain) and they said they would see him that morning. He went, and the optician was able to give him a full check up, and reassured him that the problem he was having would settle - and it did - he just had to give it time - when he returned to the clinic in February, it had stopped. He is 84 and can read without specs! Amazing!
Try a local high street spectacle shop optician.
Thank you so much my friend.. xxxx I was a little concerned lol.. cos when it is with eyes.. you never know.. being able to actually see clearly is amazing as you say... Makes you wonder when these people have laser surgery and claim to be able to walk out the same day and go back to their normal lives immediately.. mmmm.... anyway.. as you said perhaps just give it time.. I have one in my right eye which I hope will get done soon Yeahhhh again thank you xx
I am amazed you don't have a follow up appointment booked. They do loads of cataract t surgery at a couple of private hospitals where I do pharmacy locums and they have a follow up in 6 weeks. If you have ANY concerns you need to ring the clinic where you had the surgery done.....but I would expect everything to settle down very quickly
It was down at the local hospital.. I cant fault the Operation treatment & surgical staff - they were brilliant but once over , I was just handed leaflets and eye drops and told to sit for 15 mins and then go.. I was surprised at how quickly they got shot of you.. lol
people are of course going to be concerned and anxious afterwards.. people sort of forget what they are told before hand. such is life I suppose lol lol thanks for replying sally xx
No problem 🙂
Ah as a person with eye problems I can empathise with you totally. I do hope you get your worries sorted soon. I think as hospitals do so many ops like this they tend to forget concerns, possibly trivial to them but huge to us that may crop up.
Best wishes xx
