I have to wait a week for my docs appointment, so in the meantime i wondered if any of you could help.

Ive found a small lump on my abdomen, about an inch or so to the right of my belly button. It seems to be underneath the skin rather than attached to it. Its a little uncomfortable and very hard but isnt painful when I press on it. Anyone got any ideas of what it could be?

Dont you just hate having to wait for docs appointments[:@]

RE: abdominal lump

Hi Flame

Unexplained lumps need to be checked, I am not going to say anything to make you feel ok or worse scared about the lump but what I would say is that you shouldnt have to wait to see a week, see another doctor at the practice or simply tell the receptionist that you have a lump (dont say where) and you would like an opinion and soon - it generally does the trick...

Do let us know how you get on and hope all is ok

I think it is ridiculous that you have to wait for a week to see the doctor. Surely there are other doctors in the surgery. If not, I would do what Tigerbee has suggested.

Good luck

RE: abdominal lump

usually you have to book appointments 3 weeks in advance, so I was lucky to get this one for next week!!! Most surgeries in my area are like this, it is absolutely ridiculous but theres not much we can do about it. I did tell the receptionist the problem but my appointment was the earliest one available. Im just going to try and take it easy until the appointment, Ive started to think it could be a hernia, but my job involves lifting and I cant take any time off, but Im gonna have to have a word with the boss.

Anyways, thanks to you all for your help, I'll try not to worry too much 🙂

RE: abdominal lump

Well, I phoned the docs again and managed to get a cancelled appointment this afternoon.

The doc hasnt got a clue what the lump is, apparently its not common, but thinks its harmless enough. Im being sent for a scan to try and get a better idea of what it is, so until I get the appointment for that I still havent a clue!

Thanks everyone for you help.

RE: abdominal lump

So pleased you have the appointment, and glad its being investigated, far better to waste the doctors time on something which is nothing that not waste it on somethinng that may need treatment!

Let us know how you get on.....and try not to worry
