Hi all,
I have been really struggling to walk, without my legs getting extremly tired very quickly, left leg in particular which has now left me with a limp.
I would like to be able to mangage to maybe go out with my daughters ( which is very rare now)without my legs slowing down to a snails pace and having to stop.
Does anyone know if a walking cane would be of any help??
many thanks

RE: Walking aids
I would think it would be something well worth considering - although if you have cfs/fms then you may find that leaning on a stick can increase your shoulder pain sometimes - I know it does for me sometimes.
I personally use a walking stick when I need to and a wheelchair when I need to and I try not to think of them in terms of making me disabled (lets face it the fms does that fairly well just others don't notice it so much). I try instead to think of the stick or the chair as something to aid me - a tool if you will - just like I use a knife or a potato peeler when i'm taking the skin off a potato I don't try to use my fingers on their own, a stick or a chair aids me in getting around so I have enough energy to concentrate on what I'm doing instead of putting one foot in front of the other.
RE: Walking aids
hi Tracie, can you give me more info about why you are struggling, past history or injuries etc and i can possibly advise you what to do, where are you based?
