Hello,
Poor you....For a quick fix both ibuprofen and panadol....or paracetamol. Then maybe a trip to the homeopath.

Hope you feel better soon

Oil of cloves applied to the tooth can be helpful. I'd also recommend you visit a dentist!

You have my sympathies! I have had two bouts of dental pain and it's not funny. As Holistic has suggested seek a dentist. Ring NHS Direct if you are not registered with a dentist and they will put you in touch with an NHS dentist for emergency treatment. My pharmacist suggested alternating paracetamol with Ibuprofen (but always follow directions on the box and do not take more than reccommended!), it helped me. If the pain is from an infected gum area then hot salt water mouthwashes are the best. Teaspoon of salt in water as hot as is comfortable and then swish it around the area (DO NOT SWALLOW) and then spit it out. Repeat often during the day and keep the area clean by gently brushing with soft toothbrush. Antiseptic mouthwash before going to bed can also help.

Hope you get help soon!

Thankyou to you all. Although I dont bother with NHS direct as they tell me to alternate the paracetamol and ibuprofen too. And as for emergancy treatment?! Not a chance...but my own dentist will see my tommorow first thing for, yet again, another £45!! Sorry rant over now x x

I sympathise too Emily, hope you get it sorted in one visit. Am I one of the only people around lucky enough to have a damn good dentist whom doesnt believe in private practice? He point blank refuses to turn his practice private. Good for him! He also happens to be a really nice guy - it does help to quite like the person who is sticking things in your mouth!

Or, if you don't have oil of cloves itself but have actual cloves you can chew gently on one of those (in fact you only need to break off a small part of one to chew on cos there's enough numbing action in just that). It worked for me while I was waiting for my appointment.

Oil of oregano, rubbed on and around the affected tooth; there may be a burning sensation which will fade, but it is brilliant for tooth ache;)
