I just found out, through blood tests, that I have low thyroid. I started taking L-tyrosine and thyroid combo (by Enzymatic Therapy) which I bought at the health food store and in two days I am a different person. Wish I'd thought to have this done years ago. Women, especially, are susceptible.

RE: Tired = low thyroid

That's excellent news and I only reply to add a note of caution.

That there are several causes of underactive thyroid, some of which are helped by the above and other supplements i.e. kelp, as a rich source of iodine for the thyriod, but there is also problems such as Hashimoto's disease (which is not uncommon), that is an autoimmune reaction against the thyroid.

In suchcases there is a danger of causing long term further damage to the thyroid by taking thyroid stimulating supplements, even if they are purely nutritional, so suggest seeking professional advice.

Andrew.

Hi NoPatterns.

Following on from what Andrew said, low thyroid rarely occurs in isolation - it is usually accompanied by low adrenal function. You might want to speak to whoever is treating you to offer advice on a good supplement programme for improving adrenal function.

[sorry just edited out a typo]
