Can I ask those HP's that have ME/CFS if you have found that doing Holistic Therapies has decreased your ME/CFS symptons. My ME/CFS I have had for about 18 months, but I have noticed (or maybe just taken more notice of it recently) that as I am doing Reiki (self treatment weekly, I used to aim for 2/3 times a week, but....I aim for once a week), as also doing Reiki on clients 3/4 times a week that I feel that my condition is improving, I still get days when I am knocked for six so to speak....I just wondered if others feel their condition improves with them doing holistic treatments such as Reiki, Healing, etc.

As a person who suffered from CFS many years ago, the one thing which benefited me the most was a complete change in diet from a modern 'Western' diet to a more traditional macrobiotic/wholefood diet.
Other things helped as well such as acupressure, accupuncture and other therapies but nothing really gave me stability and transformation the way a change in diet did.
I would advise you to explore this option as part of the healing process.

Hi Atlanticpearl, I'm sorry to hear you're suffering with this.

I don't have it but my son does. He caught both chicken pox and glandular fever when he was three and has never got better since. We found a few things along the way have really helped: the assistance of a fantastic herbalist who gave anti-virals (huge difference in his health after that); slowly rebuilding his gut immunity that seems to have taken a real battering (probiotics & herbs); reflexology really really helps him (I trained in it for that specific purpose) and generally pacing.
I would like to try reiki but am concerned at how he'll react, but I will look into it in the future.

All the best

Debbie

As you know, conventional medicine has little to offer for ME/CFS. I use Chinese Medicine (TCM) mainly with a combination of acupuncture and nutritional therapy. It can be very helpful for most people. Look up your local practitioner and have a chat - I'm sure you'll find it helpful.

i, like kaif, have found diet to be the main help with m.e./cfs. i do the low g.i. antifungal diet combined with the "hay diet", organically.

i actually get worse if i perform a treatment like electro-acupuncture or pulsor energy balancing on anyone else- generally my son as i'm not qualified. even if i give him flower essences it affects me.

i'm a great believer in d.i.y. complimentary therapy for m.e. as it can be a protracted illness and paying for treatments will not always be viable for most.

Like Kaif - a wholefood/macrobiotic diet got me on my feet again after 9 years, but it was doing a food intolerance test and avoiding all those things that I had developed an IgG reaction to that finally made a difference. With that I have taken supplements and probiotics.

Throughout I have also had the support of acpuncture, and I think EFT has played a part too. It's been a long haul but the first time I could walk down stairs normally again (instead of one step at a time) was the greatest milestone. It's been 15 years now and I still have to be careful to pace myself.
