Hello!

Ok, it's not really 'after' ... I still have a prolapsed disc (see my post in 'Back Problems') but I feel better every day now. I can honestly say that today the pain has decreased by at least 50%. A blessing!!! I see the world with brand new eyes now. Specialist told me not to over do it and that I should rest for a least another 4 weeks, no heavy lifting or house work, etc.

I feel better today yes... but so weak! And tired! I've slept 2 1/2 hours this afternoon. If I'd listen to myself, I could easily nap before dinner too... I did spend quite a lot of time in agony (over a week) and stayed in bed for at least 2, doing absolutely nothing. I just couldn't anyway!

So how do I build my strenghts back up again? I was in the kitchen earlier... got myself a glass of water, tidied up the counter a bit then proceeded to the living room in order to tidy up the newspapers and books I had been reading this week... and it suddenly hit me : I was exhausted! [&:] I just hate being like that. I feel worthless. I am so frustrated suddenly.

I used to live my life at 200 mph!

Any suggestions, tips, advice? I'm 40, diabetic, recovering very slowlyyyyyyy from a prolapsed disc and I eat healthy. What am I doing wrong? Or maybe I'm being a bit impatient?!?!?? 😉

Thank you for your time! Have a great day and week-end.

Hi Marie, I think you've answered your own question! "I used to live my life at 200mph".

I sense that you need to slow down, be gentle with yourself and give yourself permission to relax and not do too much. It won't last forever so enjoy yourself, pamper yourself and spend time on you.

Are you listening to your body? It is trying to tell you that it needs to take it easy for a while, you can either go against that, or accept that this is what your body is asking you to do.

Love and light

Hello Marie
I know just how frustrated you are feeling. I have a heart condition which was made worse last month when I developed pericarditis. The virus is now cleared up and I am home from hospital but I am so tired - all I think about is going back to bed. I was feeling so angry with myself as there are so many things I should be getting on with but my darling sister-in-law said a few things that helped to calm me. Hope if I explain the gist of it then you will also feel better.
Be kind to yourself. If you knew someone who had been so ill you would be very kind to them. You would tell them to be calm and patient, take lots of rest. Get the idea ? Why if we are so kind and considerate to others can't we be the same to ourselves?
Love and best wishes
Maureen

Hi Maureen,
I'm a new member and I've been suffering with CFIDS (ME) for 18 years plus FMS for the last 5 years so far.
I liked your post about how we treat others who are sick and hurting with kindness and patience but often have trouble doing that for ourselves.

I've been aware of that and have been working on treating myself as I would treat others (the flip-side of the Golden Rule) and it has helped me alot. I still have times though when I start getting hard on myself for not being able to keep up or accomplish things . This is of course exacerbated by comments from well meaning (or not so well meaning) others like: "You need to find a project.." "Just do a little bit each day..." etc..

It's hard being disabled but looking well. I think it's one of the biggest struggles a person can go through. (I realize not all PWCs look well, but this is a hallmark of our dd; looking well and feeling like death warmed over)

Btw, was I sucessful in importing one of the faces above at the end of the above paragraph? If not how do I do it if I may ask?

Thanks,
Star Dancer

It is a tricky one - when you're used to having to drive yourself just to do the mundane things & get yourself through the day. So when we do have the odd moment of energy, we may have forgotten how to switch the 'driver' off. [&:]

Many cope by the 'stick' method - i.e. beating themselves with it.

I recommend the 'carrot' method myself. Getting that little voice in your head to say encouraging, supportive things instead of beating you! There's plenty of others to do that.

Also, ME & Fibromyalgia are very isolating conditions, despite being officially recognised as bone fide organic diseases this information still hasn't filtered through the media to the public or even GP's in many cases. [sm=banghead.gif]

The fact that the diagnosis for Fibro remains a joke - doesn't help matters. [X(]

It's really a case of having to accept that few if any are likely to understand and after a few drinks you may find that even your best friends turn into expert psychoanalysts & diagnose that it's all in your head. [>:]

And for anyone with this sort of problem trying to start a relationship, well that's a kettle of fish that I could write a book about. 😀

I'm very lucky that I found my answer thru NAET treatment and it wasn't in my head, heart or spirit. It was plain old food sensitivities & allergies - that many that it was difficult to separate them & know what was causing what. Some instantaneous reactions & some delayed & with a background of feeling total **** - you know what I mean! [>:]

Re. The 'Smilies' - click to put the cursor where you want the Smiley to appear, then click the one you want in the Left margin or click on 'more Smileys' for, well more Smiley options. 😉

And.

Hi And,

Very well said, all of it. I don't know how to copy and paste into here yet but your "stick method" made me LOL!

I'm glad you found help from NAET. I tried it with my acupuncturist for a year but it didn't work on me. It turns out that it's common for NAET to not work on PWCs because our energy from this dd is often mixed up. I was doing alot energy work then too, so I did all I could to get it to work.

What did help me alot was Serial Endpoint Titration, where actual substances (foods, molds, yeasts etc...) are injected into your arm and then the reaction is recorded 20 min. later then 20 min. later again then 2 days later for delays. My 4 yeast sites all merged together into one big red ball after a day on my arm and boy was I sick from it for a few days. It turns out that I'm sensitve to bakers yeast and candida but not brewers yeast which was useful info.

I learned from this testing that I was allergic (well, sensitve is the correct term but doesn't sound dramatic enough for how bad my reaction is) to almost all of the foods that I had been regularly consuming. And I was already on a very healthy low-carb diet!

I'm sensitive to over 25 foods like lettuce and tomatoes and garlic and onions etc.. etc.. many of my favorite foods, but once I eliminated them my digestion calmed way down and I finally have normal elimination! This is huge when I look back and remember constant bloating, pain and diarrhea all day and all night long evey day for years.

It's really wonderful when you can find anything that offers some relief!

There are antigens that go along with the testing that you take sublingually instead of injecting but they haven't helped me. I just have to stay away from the offending foods or pay the price.

What's a PWC? & I'll try not to kick myself on that one. [sm=rollaugh.gif]

They have changed how NAET is taught recently. [sm=idea.gif]

The guy that originally treated me, although it helped a huge amount - I don't think he checked all the individual components of the 'Mix Vials'.

e.g. For the Sugar Mix vial - the components are:- sucrose, fructose, lactose, dextrose, etc.

Once you've cleared the Mix Vial, the components should be checked individually & treated individually in those that are particularly sensitive, although some can be done together in groups. They should all be tested & treated, if appropriate with BBF (the first vial). 🙂

For me we had to go back & test & treat for the components, as well, which Candie (HP moderator) is doing with me, but both very busy, so we're still ironing out the wrinkles, as it were. 😉

We were both were sceptical that this was necessary, but now realise it is & I'm rechecking many of my own patients, especially for the sugar components. If these basic ones don't properly clear, then it will undermine the treatment of others later on. [sm=banghead.gif]

Does this ring any bells? [sm=scratchchin.gif]

Re. Serial Endpoint Titration - as far as I know this treatment isn't widely available in the UK - if at all. If our National Health Service doesn't adopt a treatment you're hard pushed to find much of anything on the alternative medical front.

And.

PS Re. Copy & paste - highlight text you want to Copy, Right mouse click, select Copy, place cursor where you want to paste, (Right mouse click again) and select Paste. [sm=dance.gif]

Don't Paste huge chunks or entire articles though - see guidelines. [:o]

An intro, key portion, plus a Pasted weblink is best - so folks can go look if interested is best. 😉

A PWC is a person with CFIDs/ME
