hiya...
I have since xmas put 5stone on....and I need to lose weight...the thing is I try slim fast...it don't work...I try lipotrim it is too strict...I try fruit and veg....I also end up eating other stuff...
I have high liver enzymes...so am I fighting a losing battle....I was thinking of hypnosis or some other technique...reflexology or chinese medicine...
I don't know....what about reiki....
The thing is I feel exhausted as though I am burnt out through dieting and over exercising five years ago...I get on a exercise bike now and I just feel tired....I feel the weight gain is due to going on Effexor at xmas time...I am now off them but on prozac and pain killers....I just feel bloated and tired....no matter how much fruit and veg I eat....I have also taken slimming tabs as well within the last year and they did not have the same effect as when I first took them five years ago....
Do any of you have any advice....I know dieting is more than just eating food as it is about the issues we carry around...how do I lose these issues and weight...I dont even know what issues are causing the weight gain....
I know you have most probably all been here or there...lol...
I am male 36 yrs old....six foot...and used to be 14st...I am now 19 and a half....
RE: help...diet advice...weight loss
I would suggest starting up something like yoga. if there arent any classes local to your area, try video/dvd...
There are sooooooooooo many benefits from this.
Yoga isnt about being as flexible as the next person, its a great form of releasing blockages within the body - mentally, emotinally and physically.
If you dont know anything about it, look up yoga on the net/get a book from library. good to find out as much info about the different types of yoga, and to become aware of postures which may not be suitable to undertake at first depending on any physical ailments.
Here's a starting pointer of its benefits:
-massive benefits can be gained from yoga practice whatever your health, age or body type. The musculature and ligamnets become pliable and elastic, you'll become more able to relax, the meridians (energy lines running through the body) and related internal organs become toned and general health greatly improves.
Or you could try Tai Chi, another fluent form of exercise which will also greatly help the energy flow of body and mind.
There are lots of forms of yoga: astanga/hatha/bikram/iyengar etc etc. see what draws your attention and give a try. some forms such as Astanga are more physically powerful than others (hatha).
I teach dynamic yoga which isnt a traditional form such as Hatha yoga, it incorporates many eastern elements which makes it remedial and holistic in its approach to the body & mind.
Maybe there is a local martial arts centre which you could go to and find out what they offer.
Let me know your thoughts!

RE: help...diet advice...weight loss
Try the GI "diet". It's not so much a diet as eating good, filling food that still means you lose weight because you feel full for longer as the food digests slower. Also you will have less of the energy highs and lows. Only thing is because of your liver issues, I would speak to a doctor about it before doing it as there may be certain food you're supposed to eat that the GI diet tells you not to eat.
All the best.
RE: help...diet advice...weight loss
Yes, i agree with darren, plus some foods make some people feel sluggish, and others it doesnt affect...i.e. bread/pasta/wheat products. There are many pasta alternatives made from millet/rice/veg base..
RE: help...diet advice...weight loss
Maybe you could go and see a nutritionist - they should be able to give good advice on weight loss plans and foods that can give you more energy and more of a feel good factor. I dabble in it myself (for my own benefit) and can certainly say that by eating the right foods you will feel less sluggish and energetic.
Sometimes by making a few changes to your diet you can feel motivated and more energetic, this in turn should encourage you to exercise - often making small changes can act as a catalyst and help you improve other areas of your life too.

RE: help...diet advice...weight loss
A lot of people I know have followed Paul mc Kennas book make yourself thin. They have lost alot of weight from reading this book, worth a try.
Another idea that has popped into my head is allergy testing, try it out and see if this is the answer.
Good luck!!!

Has your doctor checked your thyroid?
Alot of the symptoms you describe are sre similar to those of a person with an under active thyroid.
Another reason could also be that you have food allergies.
It certainly would be a good idea to have an allergy test.
Good luck
