Hi Everyone,
I have Fibromyalgia... it is now a lot worse than it was when I was first diagnosed in the it has hospitalized me a couple of times during a flare-up or what I call a Fibro Moment.
The thing is - my husband and I would like to do some travelling in September. We want to see a bit more of Canada.
We will fly into Toronto and then drive out to see Montreal, Quebec, New Brunswick, etc. I will have to do all the driving. My hubby has epilepsy and even tho' he did have surgery (which lowered the amount of seizures he was having) it didn't stop him from having them altogether.
It's going to be a lot of driving but we are in no hurry so we will take our time.
Do you know of anything I can do for myself to ensure that a flare-up doesn't happen during this time? I'll be taking some Tylenol 3's with me. They do nasty things to my stomach but they do keep the pain away. It's doubtful, however, that they do much for the fog.
Any suggestions as to what you do to help yourself in this situation would be most helpful.
Thank you,
TEMA
RE: Fibromylagia and travel
I'm a new one here and so just seen this post so hope you have not left yet. I was worried recently about a short flight to Scotland from Cambridge that had me suffering dreadfully from swollen legs both trips - surely should not be the case on a short hop. So next time I fly I will definitely wear flight socks.
As for what I would pack, I would take my pills of MSM, Magnesium, fish oils. I'm not sure about your driving all that time - it would finish me off really. So short hops with rest in between of course. And keep your attention on your shoulders and arms at all times to keep them relaxed as much as possible.
I hope you have a lovely trip.
RE: Fibromylagia and travel
Thank you, Cat, for your good wishes. We are leaving today and I have packed my heating pad and a hot pad along with all my meds (hope they don't think I'm some kind of drug addict...lol)
I don't usually have any trouble flying so I'm not really expecting any trouble this time either. Hubby is arranging a wheelchair for me to get me from point A to point B at the stopover in Toronto to save my legs. The luggage is on wheels so that doesn't seem to be a problem either.
As for driving, we have already decided that I can stop whenever I wish, or have to.
I've got lots of different doses of pain meds with me as well.
In the meantime, I'm not going to worry about it any more. Hubby is doing this for me and I intend not to disappoint him by not enjoying it.
Wish us Bon Voyage... Montreal, here we come!:):)
