Hey Guys, my name is Mike and I'm new to this Forum. I actually ended up on eliana's post via Google but Decided to start my own thread as not to hijack hers.
As you might have guessed I'm having serious problems rolling out of bed in the morning. I'll provide you with some background info, as thats the other reason I started my own thread.

I'm 22 and I live in B.C. Canada. As long as I can Remember I've had problems getting up in the morning. I Remember when I was alot younger I was the first one out of bed in the morning but things slowly degraded. My parrents Devorced when I was 10. Up Untill then we lived in the country and i was alyways very active. After the devorce, I moved to another town with my mother where we got Cable TV (The Death of My Childhood), After which I started putting on Weight and losing interest in outdoor activities. By this point I was also enjoying my time in Bed alot more.

Wow, I can see this turning into 6 pages of life story so I'll try to step it down lol.

Anyway, I think Depression may be a big factor. I was heavily abused by my fellow School mates and never had many friends. My Dad wasn't much help since, though I'm sure he loved me, had a hard time showing it. I Lived with him for 2 years before his death in 1999 after which I returned to Live with my Mother and ended up on Anti-Depressants and mood Stabalizers. I have been off of them for a Little over a year now and that was a really positive change.

Work I have Never Enjoyed (I know, Every one of you is saying "Work isn't supposed to be Fun"). I find I tire of Repeaditive Tasks VERY quickly. I Enjoy work for about 2 weeks and then I usualy quit or get fired. I have decided to go back to school as I don't ever want to be a Peon but this sleep problem is Detremental to my progress.

I Bought a foam Topper for my bed which helps with my Back pain. I Have an Alarm clock that effectivly wakes me up but I quickly turn it off and return to sleep. I Have been thinking about Accupuncture but i'm not familliar with the nitty Gritty.

Anyway, I Don't know if I have provided Enough Information, or too little information but I'm at my Witts end and really don't know what to do with my Self!

Thanks For taking the time to read all that if you have and also thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Cheers
Wally

RE: Big problems Waking Up!

Hiya Wally,

I am afraid that I am no expert in this at all... but did watch a TV programme the other night about sleep and one of the suggestions for people who have difficulty waking up in the morning - whether its for something like shift work or not - was a light box or a special light that mimics the natural daylight and helps our minds and bodies to 'wake up' -one of them came on when your alarm when off - there was a lot more to it than this but it might give you something to have a look into. Aplogies I am not more help - i hope that someone else may have some other suggestions for you to try. And just a thought - how active are you? Sometimes I find that the less excercise I do the more tired I get.

Good luck and let us know how you get on
LOL

Hi there - wonder if you would consider a liver detox . .
liver is often imbalanced when feeling tired in a morning . .
how about anger - looking back - there also could be anger - yours or others
- to consider which could inadvertingly support the imbalance.
Are you able to include perhaps 3 times 10 mins exercise in the fresh air
if you loved being in the country I would guess your body will miss the fresh air & freedom too.
Decide what you can do & make it happen - find a job that you really enjoy
then you'll never work a day in your life - trust me it works 😀
Perhaps its time to get out of bed earlier !!! enjoy the dawn of new beginnings
- forgive your dad - he perhaps was never shown love neither
& therefore didnt know how to show you how much he loved you.
Switch the cable off ( if you still watch & like it )
& make tracks for the countryside again ..go walking get some fresh air,
take time to think, restock restore & rejuvinate.
You have been through much with perhaps no support.
Well except your 'self' - & you sound pretty strong , you've obviously supported your self through
much & now looking for a little break, some guidance & deserved support -
trust your gut instinct - it may take many weeks months or even years to find what you desire
- but it will happen if you decide you're going to make it happen.
The liver - well - hopefully it & sleep will sort themselves out in the cleansing & healing process.

Get back out here - hopefully you'll meet smiley people & new friends & perhaps some better work

Good luck

Hey Guys, Thanks for your input and support 😉 I have been having somewhat intense discussions with my roommates these last two days as they can definatly see my curent situation. I have gotten some ideas and a bit of a fresh perspective so to speak.
Babe, thanks for your suggestion. I have begun looking into body Clocks and Light boxes. I figure maybe I'll build something in my room that will come on in the morning, filling my space with light and encourage the growth of a plant or two while aiding in my bodys production of Seritonin. I Have noticed that Since the end of summer my exercise routines have suffered greatly and SAD may be a big part of my problem. I also feel that Depression in general has been plauging my existance since Before my Father died and perhaps multiplied afterwards. I am going to persue help Tomorrow morning. I have Forgiven my Dad but I don't think I have forgiven my self. I think that since he died I have taken over the role of mental abuser. I Have, however, had the love and support of my mother and brother that I probably wouldn't have gone far without.
Pre, I don't have Cable =-) I don't like watching TV anymore and i don't really enjoy Hollywood productions either. So much of what is aired today is compleat Filth. I Do enjoy the History, Discovery and Learning Channels but don't like putting up with the Commertials.
I do Have alot of anger. I Am troubled by many thing of which I have no control. I See this and am working tward the solution. At least I'm aware of the problem =-)
Can you tell me more about this Liver detox? I have heard of it before but mostly though of it as my Grandmothers Hocus-Pocus (She watches alot of 20/20 lol). I have also been considering Accupuncture. Do you know much about this subject?
Finding a suitable Career is a Whole nother ball of wax. I think I might see some sort of Career advisor or councelor.

Thanks for your input
Mike

[sm=nature-smiley-008.gif] Hi Mike
I feel for you, I really do! I'm still having tests at the doctors - have discovered I'm anaemic which could be a factor, and have recently been diagnosed with glandular fever.

The things that have helped me
The lightboxes/ body clock that mimic dawn - these are fantastic, I wouldn't be without mine now. Yes, I switch it off, but it's on long enough for my foggy brain to register that its time to get up soon.
Getting someone to phone me in the morning when it's time to get up. My poor boyfriend rings me 4 times every morning at 15 min intervals!
Getting some fresh air before going to bed and keeping the room cool

I hope you feel better soon

Hi,
you were asking if acupuncture could help... i would say it would be a good move! try to find a Five Element Acupuncturist, as they will work on the spiritual/emotional side of things as well as physical. As has already been said a Liver detox may help, a Milk thistle combination... you could try Nature's sunshine they do a good one, I think its available in Canada, but you can get it on the net I think?

The other thing you could consider is reflexology or reiki, both of which could be helpful to you situation.

Sending Reiki (((((hugs)))))

Hiya
I know a guy in Vancouver who might be able to help you. He is a PT, orginally from Scotland, and runs his own practice but is also into working with emotional stuff too(body mind connection). He is a class in his own right and a well known therapist.

Drop me a line if you want to know more.

I had CFS for 7 years and am very sure it was emotionally related due to a congenital condition, scool bullying, etc. Also I totally believe my body was chronically dehydrated. When I get tired now in general I go and drink lots of water and that helps.

Tony Robbins talks about difficulty in getting up in the morning as possibly having something to do with familiar habits of dread, fear, boredom that were common in childhood (or a situation that made us want to avoid the day) that we have never gotten rid of in adult hood, present time........could be a possibility.

best wishes

Hi there the clocks are good - as they help trigger the body to wake up naturally and they work. I loved mine but my husband cant respond to it. Can my husband shift work be making me tired?
