For the past few weeks, I have been waking up twice a night and feel jittery. Once my heart was racing, the other times have been just a normal heart rate even though it feels as if I have been up for a while. I have pain in my chest that moves around. My doctor, after normal test results, has suggested acid reflux. However, the medications for cause me problems. Also, the pain in my chest is often in the upper and not middle of my chest. Last visit, I had a blood pressure that was 144/87. This slightly in the hypertension range and is the first time I have been above 120/60. I also am having lots of gas issues. I have cut out coffee and alcohol and am drinking warm lemon water in the AM and taking a probiotic pill. Any suggestions as to why I am waking up in the middle of the night and feeling jittery every morning? Also, I am 42. Any possibility this could be pre-menopause?
Not sure if this is menopause-related. I had something similar a few years ago, at a very bad time in my life. Constant fear and agitation had caused sleeplessness, loss of appetite, stomach pains, indigestion. What helped me greatly was paying close attention to my breathing(calming breathing techniques are great in this case), cutting out all caffeine and drinking teas with lots of calming herbals like valerian and chamomile. Also, lemon balm should help both with stomach and sleep (). That's me, but your symptoms really do sound like acid reflux, since it can can cause a lot of distress, and painful feeling can travel from your stomach to your abdomen and chest, or even up to your throat. It takes some time to quell the symptoms and quite a bit more to treat it completely. But! If you feel that you have been wrongly diagnosed and that assigned treatment is not helping you, I strongly suggest going for another review. Best of luck!
Oh, and here's this thread with some helpful tips

Acid reflex can be a right burn.
It is certain your body wants you to relax in every which way you can. Mentally, psychologically, emotionally and physically.
Thoughts, emotions, pressures of life are getting to the point, you cannot keep it all down, so to speak. Spewing out acid, when you cannot control it, like in the middle of the night. Your body is your great friend, she does not need sorting, she needs being heard.
Don't treat this as a condition. 'Conditions' often consolidate, purely because of the way we respond to a 'condition'. That's why people have conditions over decades, sometimes half their lives
it is your body's wisdom telling you what to do in order for her to function perfectly.
It is more about opening up to what is being experienced in the moment rather than sorting it. Relax into the burn, breathe gently into it with an understanding that one's body is one's best guide to better health.
Generally relax. If you rush about mentally and physically...".learn to say to hell with this, it can wait, while I have a quiet time with me"
Down tools, relax, breathe and keep breathing nicely.
Before meals consume 1 and a half tsp organic apple cider vinegar added in a cup of water.
Some of the people that I have helped with acid reflex didn't even eliminate tea, coffee, wine long term, but just learnt to relax into what is going on in the body right this moment. Have no fight. Don't try to shoo it away, just relax into the experience. It collapses before any medicine can even begin to work.Often heart burn can be a result of rushed, impatient and judgmental (towards oneself, others, or situations) predisposition.
May body find her balance
