I love homemade meat bone stock. It does wonders for my digestion. You know, simmering for hours, with a bit of vinegar: pork trotters, or any carcass really (see, for instance, ).
One of its strong points is, apparently, the gelatin.
Now if I don’t want to have meat, or if I am travelling, what sort of vegetarian gelatin can I use to get the same effect?

Vegetarian gelatin??? What about Agar flakes? Carageenan?

If you are looking for a thickening agent, what about cornflower?

Thanks! I'll try the first two. No, it's not thickening I want, I can use flour for that, it was for my intestines.

this made me think of the gelatine suppositories that were prescribed for chronic constipation. Perhaps just a few cubes of jelly?
