Hi, I suffer with Ibs and just wondered if with it the bowel can change from time to time ?
I've gone from the morning rush in the morning to going sometimes bit constipated or solid and some times going again during the day plus a lot of wind . Some mornings I feel the urge to go then feel like it's not there yet when I get there if you know what I mean .

Please help as I do suffer from health anxiety just need some answers

Yes, it can change, just as it can come and go. As you've discovered, it's stress related so I would deal with this. IBS is a symptom of something deeper.

PS Your website isn't "working".

Hi Katherine,

IBS changes with the weather. It does help though to write down what you eat fell and do in a rough diary and see if you can match anything to when symptoms change, see if there are any triggers for the urgency or constipation. There may not be but on the other hand there just might.

IBS is such a difficult one to cope with, I never used to think that stress would affect me but it does affect everyone. It can affect the stomach acid, the bowel mucus, the digestion is impaired and can become slower or faster.
Do you have anyone that you discuss the IBS with, like a nurse or nutritionist?

Hi Katherine,

I'd recommend the book: Irritable Bowel Solutions...

It discusses the various different 'categories' and ways to deal with them.
Unfortunately IBS is one of those 'catch all' diagnosis' that doctors use when they haven't got a clue... and it covers a wide variety of symptoms. The first step is to identify which type of IBS you need to deal with.... and the doctors usual recommendation of "eat more fibre" isn't always the best advice... sometimes that can make it worse... depending on your IBS type.

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Have you seen a bereavement counsellor? It may be helpful.

As others have mentioned, addressing the underlying cause is the way to go - I've found vitamin B and magnesium supplements helpful for stress support alongside the methods mentioned above!
