Came across this on a website the other day and it's an alternative treatment for candida. Has anyone heard of it/any experience of it or is it just another waste of money.

Alternative Candida Treatment: Candida Zapper

Be interested to hear views of the professionals on this one.

experience

A dash of experience outweighs a whole lot of theorizing.
I have had candida all my life and have tried many things for it, never with true success. The Candida Zapper (not a run-of-the-mill Clark Zapper) is the only thing I could ever brag about. It definitely has an atom bomb effect on all those white scum. I now eat a normal diet, not enslaved by all those horrible anti-carb restrictions and use the device when I feel a resurgence of the problem (ie: symptoms). No, it isn´t a once-for-all cure. That does not exist anywhere. If you have candida its because you have some immune deficiency which is not easy to cure by popping 10 pills from the health food store (a nice white lie). The Candida Zapper is the next best thing to a cure though.

Hi Jaguar57, welcome to HP!

I wouldn't dare say who's evidence quoshes anyone else's here, there's often quite a bit of knowledge behind what people put here.

I note you also lean on a fair bit of theorising; white pills and restrictive no carb diets being all anyone else has to offer, no cure anywhere; I'm sorry if these are your conclusions. 'Immune deficiency' is traditionally the next best thing to 'genetic' for selling pharamaceuticals, but in a natural health forum this tends not to leave people entirely satisfied.

A bit more info would be nice, for example the context of your own candida problem - how it started, how the problem manifests in your case, general health etc. I wonder if you are finding yourself having to zap more frequently, and what will the state of your joints, breathing, liver, memory etc after a few more years of this.

It does look a bit like 'I'm a neuroscientist, but that doesn't stop me getting headaches too! There is no cure for the underlying cause but I always carry nurofen just in case, and one of those whenever I need it really keeps me going'. Forgive me probing, but what is your background, what has brought you to HP now, and do you have a stake in this product, by any chance?

Hi jaguar, and welcome to HP

I think no-one could dispute that a healthy diet and lifestyle underpins good health, irrespective of your health concern. I'd be a bit concerned if one of my clients stepped through the door telling me that they had a 'normal diet' - in fact my heart sinks when I hear this. In my opinion a diet low in fresh foods, and high in saturated fat, refined sugar and additives, in not normal. Yet that's pretty much the 'normal' western diet is.

It's just not physiologically possible to control Candida by continuing on such a diet. The simple maths are that refined sugars and soluble fibres are the direct food source for Candida. The more of these you add to your diet, the more Candida population is sustained. You also need good sources of fibre to reduce transit time through your gut, again providing less opportunity for the Candida numbers to build up.

I'm not sure what the 10 pills from the health food store, which you refer to are. I find that to get good nutritional advice it is best to seek out a registered therapist. Folk who work in health food stores are generally just sales staff with an interest in health/nutrition, but without any formal training or qualifications. Taking supplements solely on their recommendation is probably not advisable.

I certainly advocate trying different tools and treatments in addition to one's foundation of a healthy diet and lifestyle. I don't know enough about the zapper's efficacy to say whether it's worth spending money on or not. It would be helpful if Janet could hear independent testimonials from folk who aren't involved in the marketing and promotion of the product to help her decide whether to buy it, or not.

hiya 🙂
i clicked on the link and emailed a link to this thread. perhaps he's turned up, can't know for sure. if he is the proprietor even with a financial interest his input right or wrong is allowed i think. hope i haven't thrown spanners in works!? good place to check general customer satisfaction for zappers in general is ebay.

all this said, i'd try one but i prefer my own personal approach and will stick with that. peace....

I'd be interested to hear more about how often you use the zapper Jaguar - is it daily - how long, how many weeks etc. and what other benefits you have had from it. What were your problem when you had candida and what has been the difference since you've been zapping. I was about to give up on the idea till I read your post - now I'm intrigued again.

Welcome to the HP forums.

Oh right, that makes sense then. I definitely got the sense that he had financial interests in the zapper. Shame he didn't just come clean and say he was the manufacturer - folk could have had an interesting conversation with him. But to masquerade as a satisfied customer is dishonest, and not good business acumen IMHO.

hi,
don't think there was a masquerade was there...he may both use and be satisfied and sell? he did say he "brags" about it which may imply proprietorship. either, or....

not keen on the "white scum" statement as it implies a war or battle instead of understanding and the diet when done correctly is not a chore but a delight, as a sensitive tongue finds more taste in the supposedly simple fare.

hard to say whether or not they would ultimately help secure digestive integrity or take you to the door but keep it locked purely because you were doing the treatment as some "helpers" do...
