Hi if this is in the wrong place please move it.
Can anybody help me to manage this extreme bloating issue I have going on please? I know that the recent introduction of extra amounts of fibre in my diet are causing it, I've been doing some research this last week and interestingly I've learned that we need very little fibre, some people need none, in order to be 'regular' this would make sense as I recall a time many years ago when I went through phases of being fixated with things, once it was Weetabix and another time it was All Bran both times I was heavily bloated, constipated and in a lot of pain, apparently this belief that we need loads of fibre to remain regular in the loo department was some kind of conspiracy in the 1970's manufactured between the government and breakfast cereal producers.
I have been eating very healthily for the last 11 days, it's not a diet as such (although I have lost 4-5 pounds) it's more like an attempt to get more goodness and balance in my diet but now I look like I am expecting triplets in the next ten minutes I am uncomfortable and I just know through experience that the pain of constipation is on it's way although I am fine at the moment other than looking like a barrel.
I don't want to give up my new regime I am enjoying the variety of foods especially the fruit and veg, the dark circles have gone from under my eyes, my complexion is glowing and I have tons more energy as well as sleeping better and feeling more refreshed when I wake.
I drink 2-3 litres of water a day, this is not part of the new regime this is something I've always done.
Thank you all in advance.

Love

Rebecca

Hi,

It may be that you have introduced too much too soon. The body can take a while to get used to changes like this.

You could try adding plain unsweetened live yoghurt or taking probiotics if this doesn't appeal as this might help your digestion (I found it very helpful when having tummy problems).

Also steer clear of too much bran if you are taking that - it's quite harsh. It's also worth remembering that stress / anxiety / upset can exacerbate stomach problems like bloating.

Hope you find something works for this 🙂

I would add to Mouse's advice and say use plain natural goats milk yoghurt - mix some fresh fruit (fresh, peeled, pears) and a tablespoon of flaked almonds and half a dozen broken walnuts - good start to the day, and very gentle on the system.
Try some gentle abdominal massage - in reverse (up the descending colon, across the transverse, and down the ascending) which may help to prevent any compaction - it worked brilliantly on my girls when they were younger.
Can you get out to do some simple exercise? Walking for 20 minutes for instance?

Hi Mouse and Jabba thank you for taking the time to reply, I already eat a lot of live yogurt and I don't eat bran at all, as for stress I have none I am the happiest person alive!
Jabba I do 45 mins of spinning four times a week, thanks for the recipe but I don't like almonds or any nuts but will try the massage.

Thanks again.

Sometimes finding the right diet for you can require some trial and error.

Keep a food diary is the way to start - and you may notice that there is a specific food that you eat immediately prior to bloating. I become bloated from very acidic foods (oranges are the worst offenders). If this doesn't work, then try cutting one food at a time out of your diet for 2 weeks - if this doesn't make a difference reintroduce that food and cut another out etc.

Water is probably the most important preventative of constipation. Also, although you are a happy person, if you don't already do some relaxation exercises, then perhaps this would help with muscular tension.

Of course, like someone else noted, it may simply be the sudden change, your body may be wondering what is going on.

I got rid of bloating by no longer combining carbs and fibre. So I can have olives (which have no carbs) or sweets (which have no fibre) but not within say an hour and a half of each other. Probably an hour would do it.

Just something that I found works because the carbs digest before they reach the colon.

I have olives first thing in the morning only, to keep them separate.

Got the idea from Ray Peat 🙂

your body might be adjusting to your new diet... there are some toxins in the body that might be removed during the process of changing your diet, plus the normal microbiota is altered as you change your diet and your lfiestyle... fibers are always good for the body, however if you plan to drastically change your diet it may help that you take soft fibers.papaya is one that is proven! this fruit won't embarass me... u'll have immediate results.. however if you cannt readily find ripe papaya, try digestic..it's Non GMO..try to read and listen to testimonies. God bless!:)
