5 weeks after being told my 3 year old needs a fairly prompt circumcision to investigate a lump on his penis, I finally receive a letter today saying he will get an appointment in 17 weeks! I guess 3 year olds with lumps on their penis just aren't important enough [&o]
RE: NHS Troubles
Hi Angelfish
I have a similar story. My sons best friend had a terrifying reaction seconds after biting into a brazil nut last easter. He's 12. Cut a long story short he spent night in hospital and sent home next day . A week or so later went to have a blood test and was told to watch what you eat come back in 17 weeks to have an allergy test!!!! Mum made a fuss and they gave him an epipen after saying he had a high reading for being intolerant to nuts. What is it all coming to? I'm sure there are many more stories like these. Sadly. Hope all goes well for your little boy and he's not in any discomfort waiting.

RE: NHS Troubles
Good news. After enquiring why a 3 year old is not considered a high priority, my appointment has been brought forward and is in 4 weeks. Well Done NHS for seeing sense!

RE: NHS Troubles
Hi AngelFish...
You sound relieved.
17 weeks are preposterous, but 4 weeks is still not really good enough. It is better than 17 weeks though.
Well Done NHS for seeing sense!
I don’t think the NHS deserves a ‘Well done’ for letting a 3 year old with a lump on his penis wait for 4 weeks!
How is your son doing at the moment?

RE: NHS Troubles
Thanks for the replies everyone, fortunately my Son hasn't developed any further problems; although it does get a bit uncomfortable when he fiddles down there... boys will be boys 😉
I am pleased that the NHS are taking things a bit more seriously and I know that they should act more quickly, but I am sure there are plenty of others that need help too. Unfortunately I haven't got many other options, as there are no local private hospitals which will do the op on a 3 year old.
If I were really concerned I'd have him down at A&E and demand immediate attention, so as long he doesn't get an infection or any other complications I'm happy to wait.

RE: NHS Troubles
I took my son to see the consultant last week and he said there is nothing to worry about and my son's little lump was just sebum (which is very common). Things should sort themselves out over the next few years so there is no need for a circumcision.
Funny that my GP couldn't come to the same conclusion, unfortunately this reaffirms my view of GP's. If I had gone private, I would have sent the GP the bill!
At least it is a weight of my mind.
