Children Turned into Zombies

Hundreds of children were turned into 'zombies' after a doctor wrongly diagnosed them with epilepsy, a report revealed yesterday.

Dr Andrew Holton, who was not properly qualified to treat the children, prescribed a cocktail of drugs which left some temporarily disabled. The report found failings not only in the conduct of Dr Holton but also in the system for failing to prevent it.

It says the consultant paediatrician had an arrogant belief in his own judgment which exceeded his inadequate training. He disregarded medical practice and ignored other experts' views.

The doctor's mistakes went unchecked by any internal or external scrutiny, says the report, which raises the prospect of similar failings throughout the UK.

Parents are demanding a national inquiry into the scandal at Leicester Royal Infirmary, which follows a string of similar blunders recently.

Adrian Stevenson, the chairman of Leicestershire Epilepsy Concern, an action group set up by 300 families of affected children, said: 'Time and again parents say their chil- dren were turned into zombies. They were given up to six different drugs, where two is the norm.

'For over ten years, Dr Holton has repeatedly misdiagnosed and mistreated children under his care. During that same period he went unmonitored, unchecked and unchallenged.'

More children than ever are being prescribed a drug known as the 'chemical cosh' because of its ability to calm hyperactive children.

Use of Ritalin has doubled in just four years in England and is nearly 100 times greater than in the early Nineties, fuelling fears that doctors are over-using it as a convenient way of controlling thousands of youngsters with behavioural problems.

While many parents say it has transformed their child's behaviour, others have been alarmed at the change in personality and side effects which effectively turned children into 'zombies'.

There is also worrying evidence of a culture of drug-pushing in school playgrounds, where children craving Ritalin's amphetamine-like hit can buy a stolen pill for as little as £1.

Doctors dispensed 254,000 prescriptions for the drug last year, up from 208,500 in 2001, according to figures from the Prescription Pricing Authority. The use of Ritalin has soared after it became increasingly popular in America.

and it goes on.........society drugging children instead of meeting their needs....

It makes no sense that some Spiritual and Reiki healers are OK with being taken under the control of this medical profession.

I sent off for the dvd "Sweet Misery" last year, and would recommend it to anyone interested in the aspartame story. as you have stated, there is a network of complicity between the multinationals and politicians in general, whereby big profits are held above the good of the general public - indeed the masses are looked upon as cattle to be herded and profited from

the epidemic of human misery associated with smoking tells the same story - although the tide is slowly turning in the west. I recommend the book "Smoke Screen" which highlights the way the tobacco industry has influenced politicians in a big way. then, as popular opinion catches up with what is going on, the 'pushers' concentrate on third world countries to push their wares and create more addicts.

this ploy of going to the third world even applies to baby food manufacturers! how sick is that.

We are getting reports of the amazing behavioural changes seen in schools when diet is improved - when even the pupils want to keep on the 'good stuff'! I had a report from one of my team on wednesday relating this same news locally here in North London.

fresh food organically grown is what is required, and no chemically laced processed food if possible. the more healthy food we buy, the more the rubbish manufacturers will fail in their money orientated missions.

I'm sorry to say this but your post has really affended me my son has server behavior problems developmental delay the list goes on. My son is a slight problem child however theenviroment he lives in far from a problem. I have 5 other children who do not suffer with any problems. So unless you live with a child like my son and loads of other chi;dren with problems i don't think you should really judge as you donot know what it is like

I am sorry that you are offended the thread has obviously touched you somewhere deep inside. For when we are healed nothing offends us. Let us seek to understand each others position and where we are coming from.

I have worked with these children. Every case is unique in the same way as every child and person is unique. However, not every parent lives in conscious awareness of the impact of the nature-nurture and environment of the child. How many parents treat children as their equals? Wise and sacred beings to be honoured. How many parents and teachers talk down to children and treat them as inferior beings? How many parents do not listen to the child and the needs of the child.

There was one case where a child was burning down phone boxes and one of five children who did not have the same perceived behavourial problems. This beautiful eight year old had been seen by doctors, behavioural therapists, psychologists etc the list goes on. Removed from a couple of schools and on his way to detention centre. I was the mothers last hope as the situation was just getting worst. What impacts on one child will not impact on others due to all children being different and responding differently to life circumstances and their environment. I was able to assist mother and the child where all the orthodox health professionals and teachers had failed them. The mother did a six months empowerment programme that included a Reiki healing course and I had two development sessions with the child, following the work that we did together the child is now perfectly behaved, in school and happy. Working together with mother and child we were able to break the repeating patterns, cycles and control drama's.

When we gave him his flowers essences he drank them down in one go, when I asked him why he said ‘I just want to be a good boy and not take Ritalin’.

The child’s voice says it all.

So I do not judge you or anyones else’s situation. However, I do base what I say on experience of working with these parents and children of all ages, they are my passion and part of my reason for being. Hence, why I was hired as a consultant to a government agency to help these families. When people have large families they have no idea how detrimental this can be for children, there is only so much time and love too go round.

Unlovable behaviour can be a great call for love and attention.

The damage that these drugs are creating for our children is a crime against humanity. We have giving children drugs that break down the immune system, suppress the core issues and emotions, fragments the energy system which in turn dissipates the 'strength of will' to combat the problem.
