Hello there, my son who is 16months seems to of been snotty with a cough for a good month. Been to gp who gave anti biotics after 2 weeks but they didn't work, went back and GP said it would be viral.

Any suggestions on alternative remedies to help? He is happy enough and eating ok, but not his giggley thriving usual self.

Many thanks in advance x x

He possibly hasn't had one infection but a series of different ones as he got exposed to viruses he didn't have immunity to. It happens sadly. As long as he is happy and eating I wouldn't worry too much. Antibiotics won't help because most coughs and colds are caused by viruses.

I would be against dosing him with herbal remedies since they probably won't be designed for children. Homeopathic remedies will be OK tho. You need to consult a homeopath about which remedy . I have some training in homeopathy but am NOT a homeopath.

A short reiki session also wouldn't hurt him (got to get my own speciality in somewhere) and as it works with the bodies own systems it would be helpful.

However these should all be sued IN CONJUNCTION with standard medical care and if he deteriorates, starts running a fever, or has breathing problems you need to get medical help.

Hope that helps

I think that a cough is often caused by a sore throat, specially children. So we need to have the knowledge about the sore throat and preventions.
