Hiya All,
My 10yr old daughter informed me earlier that when she goes to the loo there is always blood in her stools, i forgot to ask how long it had been going on for,
I told her it was nothing to worry about, ( she is fine in her self, no problems whatso ever), but i would try and make an appt at the doc for her,
I rang the doc and cant get her in till Fri, ( today is Tues),
I am being over concerned as a mother, or is the doc as usual not really bothered!!!,
Thanks for any help here,
RE: Bloody Stools, !!!!
First thing to check would be, is it really in her stools, or is it just a problem similar to adult piles i.e. the blood is happening as it emerges? I'm not a health professional, but that's the first question and simplifies things. That wouldn't be serious.
Good luck,
Venetian
RE: Bloody Stools, !!!!
This is worth going to the doc. You did the right thing to make the appointment - bloody stools can be because of low-risk problems, but the doc needs to eliminate anything more.
I'm very sorry - I don't mean to get you worried, but bloody stools really should always be checked by the doc.
Hope it turns out fine

RE: Bloody Stools, !!!!
Hiya again,
Thanks for your replys, i am not too worried as she isnt complaining of tummy ache or anything like that, she is still her usual self. i think i would be more bothered if she did complain she wasnt feeling well, but so far so good,
Having suffered the effects of piles for so long ( due to child bearing...... she is one of four), she informs me that it doesnt hurt when she goes and she doesnt strain, so i sort of pushed piles to the back of the list,
Oh well, i will wait and see how she goes, and what the doc says on friday, though unfortunately i am not getting to see my doc ( a female one) but a diff one, who never seems to have time for anyone
I will let you know the outcome,
Thanks again,
Tracey x
RE: Bloody Stools, !!!!
Hi Tracey,
My first guess at a cause would be an Anal Fissure. These are common in childhood. It's when a youngster sometimes suffers from a small split in the skin of the anal sphincter. The trouble is they don't heal up too quickly. It's a bit like when you get chapped lips and the skin splits, because it's in a moist area every time you speak or smile it opens up again.
I'm sure the doctor will be able to put your mind at rest.
Light love & healing to you and your daughter
Sioux
RE: Bloody Stools, !!!!
If the blood is fresh, then most likely a fissure from anus or rectum.
Likely cause constipation.
Only usually a serious problem if blood is partially digested, which suggests it's coming from higher up the digestive tract.
