Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the amber teething necklace / anklets?
My 9 week old is teething. I can see and feel the teeth just below the gums and she is showing all signs – drooling, strong urine, chewing her fists and being very irritable. As she is only 9 weeks old, she can't hold anything, let alone put anything (besides her fists) in her mouth. She is also too young for majority teething gels and granules. A friend suggested a seller to me that I have ordered an anklet for my baby and a bracelet for myself but was hoping to find other peoples experiences and comments on these necklace / anklets. Or does anyone have any other suggestions for a child at this age?
Thanks

Hiya, my son is now 11 months and he's been going through teething pain since 12 weeks, so I can identify completely with what you are finding. His first tooth didn't appear until 7 months, but as they very gradually move closer to the surface they can cause nerve pain along with all the things you describe.
I haven't tried one of the necklaces, but I have had a lot of success with Chamomila homeopathic pilules in 30c. Don't bother with the teething granules as these are only 6c and not strong enough. They did nothing for Ben, but a little pilule which you are pop safely under the tongue would stop the pain within minutes. Also Combination R tissue salts are very good (specially for teething pain).
Failing that, you should be able to give 2.5ml of Calpol from 8 weeks. I have to say, on the very bad days I have used Calpol and/or Baby Nurofen. I haven't had to do this often and usually one or two doses in enough and then further support with the Chamomila or tissue salts.
If you little one gets any nappy rash due to increased saliva/urine etc, then I highly recommend Weleda Calendula Nappy Change cream - it is fantastic. Also if you find the chin area is getting chapped, then Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter is amazing stuff - completely natural with chamomile oil and brilliant at soothing sore chins, not so good at nappy rash though, but amazing for dry skin on both you and baby!!
Good luck with it all, it can be a long process until that first tooth appears, Ben now has 5 with a 6th due to make an appearence at any time!!
Best regards
Heather 🙂
Hello Robz,
I have two kids (1 and 3 years old) and believe me, I know how desperate this whole teething period might be.. With my first child at first I was using tylenol and ibuprofen to sooth the pain of his gums but then it didn't really helped. My mom got us the Sophie the Girafe (which is extremely popular in France, every kid has it) and my baby really lieked cheewing it and I think it helped him as he was busy all the time playing with it. And then I have tried using amber teething necklace . I was impressed by the result of how much it has helped. My baby become much calmer. and I then got another amber teething necklace and Baltic amber teething bracelet for my second child.
