had mole removed on my upper thigh 6 weeks ago they found part of it contained early stages of melanoma and it was all removed but to follow procedure have to do revised excision this Friday at minor operations, Not sure that revised excision means? remove more of the flesh surrounding where the mole was?

I think that does mean that Amethystfairy. There are certain guidelines that have to be followed so although they removed the mole and the cells that were suspicious they will have to take a wider margin around the site to be safe. I had a suspect mark on my ankle removed (it was never a mole) and had a lovely neat line of stitches. Unfortunately my result came back it was melanoma and an aggressive one so I had to go back in for a very wide excision around the site and a skin graft:(. Hopefully yours will be a lot smaller:).

Yup it means a slightly wider excision around the area. I had the same procedure done for a lump I had on my thigh. They need to take a margin of tissue from around the area to be sure that it hasn't sent out little cancer spindle cells so it narrows down the chances of it returning.
Fingers crossed you only need this one extra excision. Take your time to recover.
