Since I was young, I've always been interested in donating to charity. Specifically cancer charities as our family was affected by the disease.
My mother always had a charity pot in her shop for the local hospice where her sister passed away. Every year when it became full we could have fun counting it and donating it to the hospice.
Me and my siblings would also do swimming challenges and walks, getting people to sponsor us. Giving to charity was a subject I was brought up around so I am always aware and sympathetic to fundraisers. There's always a great sense of pride in donating and something I will always try to do. What I have never really done and should have, was find out what these charities are actually doing with the donations and the difference they make. It's something I thought about after seeing this article a few years ago:
Seeing the difference they make really is a great feeling and it makes donating all the more worth it.
I currently give charity donations to leukaemia and lymphoma research. I could be here all day writing about what they've managed to accomplish including lots of pioneering research! But here they give me a breakdown of exactly what they achieve with my money
What have your chosen charities been up to? Do you know where your moneys goes?
