I've heard it said many times that our 'treatment' of cancer will someday be looked upon like illnesses were treated in the dark ages.........don't look here for an argument........

hi Kcatdeejay
Nobody can say that you are looking for an argument. The forum is mostly a friendly place an odd spat here and there...that happens in a family!

This sounds about right. Progression in science, technology and human understanding is such that even the state of the art things start looking primitive in only a few decades, if not years.
People in middle ages were doing some pretty gruesome doctoring( yeah, I watch horrible histories, a fav program of my sons on CBBC) They were happily doing all that and even as if placebo effect there must be a degree of amelioration. so the patients and doctors were happily practicing the know how of that era. They didn't know any better, but we do and that is partly thanks to their hit and trial ways of treating diseases
When we look back, we see their folly, and find it laughable, even weird.
I feel serious diseases are looking for less complicated treatments and use substances that aid healing which are not synthetic but found in abundance in nature, very down to earth common medicines such as apples and oranges, lemons. That is how Ayurveda has sustained itself for thousand of years using fruits of common trees, herbs.
Simplicity comes after a great deal of delving into complex solutions.
Simple is the way of nature, we as a race are on a quest to simplify. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication...me thinks

Hi Kcat 😉 How ya doing?

Did you give any further consideration to putting up some videos on YouTube, talking about your cancer self-treatment?

Cancer Treatment

1. Choose new deodorant. Antiperspirant that contains aluminum can reflect the radiation rays back onto surrounding skin, making it even more red and irritated during radiation treatments. If possible, book morning radiation appointments and apply your deodorant for the day after the treatment.

2. Check lotion labels. If you use a lotion or skin moisturizer containing bronzer or shimmer, it may contain small flecks of mica or another metallic particle. Again, this can cause your skin to burn or become uncomfortable. Instead reach for simple, limited ingredient moisturizers such as pure cocoa butter.

3. Wash often. Keep your skin clean by washing in the morning and evening. Use a perfume-free soap that isn't colored with artificial dyes. These added ingredients can irritate sensitive skin during cancer treatments.

4. Protect your skin. You know you should wear sunscreen daily, but when you have skin cancer, it's even more imperative. Protect the tender skin with a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen to prevent additional redness or sensitivity.

5. Be gentle to your skin. Wear loose clothing that doesn't rub against the area of skin undergoing treatment. Slip into sports bras without underwires, flowing tops and pants made with soft fabric.

An oncologist nurse at a London hospital said to me that they offered the best treatments for cancer that were available but even those treatments had terrible side-effects.

That is why I NEVER chose to employ their methods......imagine, introducing known carcinogens into your body to cure cancer. To me, that is tantamount to making someone consume vast amounts of alcohol to cure their alcoholism

People may be interested in having a look at this book which purports to list all the available 'alternative' cancer cures - that is alternative to the allopathic system of 'slash, burn and poison'.

Boosting immune function and reducing stresses is VITAL for dealing with cancer.

I don’t understand what kind of cancer talk is going on here. There are several kinds of cancer discovered till date in this world. Best wishes for your future treatment.

I can totally understand the desire to avoid chemo/radiotherapy . they are brutal treatments. I had thyroid cancer - and was relieved to find out neither treatment would be necessary for me.

But you do have to remember that cancer used to be death sentence - until the early chemotherapy drugs were discovered........

Are they perfect - hell no!! Is enough attention paid to looking at issues like boosting the immune system and all the things that are discussed on here? Again hell no!! But IMO it needs to be joint approach.

I am sure in days to come we will look back at how we treat cancer with amazement - we will find newer approaches - but drugs will still be part of treatment.

Hi rumyreymond85 welcome to HealthyPages 🙂

If you look at my post (no 11 on this thread) I refer to a book available (click the link) and the blurb describes what it is about. It is much more about encouraging the immune system to continue to do its job as it has done most of one's life destroying irregular cells that may, or have, become cancerous rather than the conventional methods used now.

Diet and lifestyle choices have a lot to do with it, as well as avoiding or coping with stresses.

More useful information about cancer treatment .

Interesting too, as 80% of immune function is based in the gut, and there needs to be the right bacteria there to do the job!

The more I read and learn, the more I believe that the Ancient Greek premise that 'Most illness begins in the gut' is absolutely right.

'The best doctors and Dr Diet, Dr Quiet, and Dr Merryman' Not my quote but one we were given on the hypnotherapy course! It is of course so very true.

Hi Sally

Love your quote!

Here's another 'non-conventional' cure being offered based on nutrition and detoxing - the "31 Day Cancer Cure". I have no experience of it but just putting the ideas in front of those who are interested.

It's a curious article. I've met thousands of cancer patients (I do voluntary work with cancer patients) and most of them have been saved by chemo whilst the rest have had their lives extended by chemo. My dad, for instance, would have died over a year ago if it were not for the chemo he's currently "enjoying". (His diet is mainly home-cooked Chinese food.)

My brother's immune system was so debilitated by chemo that the infection killed him - or was it the chemo itself? If I knew then what I have learned in the last 10 years he might still be with us. I went to the funeral last week of a 42 year-old who put her faith in what the doctors told her - I did offer to help but she decided against it - I shall never know if any advice from complementary source could have made any difference.

It is up to the individual to make their choice, but they need access to information of all kinds.

Sorry to hear about your brother. Chemo does ruin the immune system so it would make sense that infection could be a problem. We're not supposed to visit the centre if we have a cold.

Western medicine can usually help but it always depends on how "healthy" the patient is, the type of cancer and how far the cancer has developed amongst other things so I would be reluctant to blame the doctors.

Personally, I'd still go for chemo/radio/etc if I get cancer but also use Reiki, EFT and chi kung.
