hi
i was interested in noticing the cancer website link... but unfortunately a cuople of the links appear to be broken and also the one that i got - cancerinternational wants £30 registration which i dont agree with paying.
So if anyone knows of one that is useful for family members of cancer sufferers please let me know.. my mum is suffering bad afftects from chemo... namely crapping and vomiting and i am trying to get info on how best to help her..
thanks
love nicky
Hello nicky,
Yes you're right, if you're referring to the 'sticky' thread at the top of the forum:
Some of the links to Home pages give a 'page not found' result. However, if you click on one of their other pages, eg About Us, from their sidebar, you should get the rest of the website.
Until we get a spare minute to edit the thread and change the links, here's the one to the Macmillan website:
You could try doing the same with some of the others in the thread, and I hope this helps a bit in the meantime.

EDIT to add:
The links in the sticky thread have now been updated:

Macmillan have lots of information -
Cancerbacup are good too, but for some reason their link is not working.
She can always pick up the phone and talk to the chemo nurses where she is having her treatment. They are there to help.
I have to say that I was reluctant to accept help when I was having treatment - I just wanted to be left to deal with it on my own. The district nurses were always brilliant with me though - I resembled a pin cushion from the amount of anti-emetic injections I had! Never had problems with the runs (thankfully) but then living on the occasional fried egg and KitKats meant my digestive system wasn't particularly stressed!!!
AFAIK Cancerbacup no longer exists.
I have a couple of links which will be more specialised and of help to patients and their families here in Northern Ireland but may be of use nonetheless to others:
and
So hopefully Nicky and others can check these out and other HP'ers can assist in other parts of the UK & Ireland.
When I was ill I went to MacMillan, its for cancer patients and carers alike, and is a wonderful space to speak to people who know and understand what you are going through.
Its a great place to get: guidance, support, inspiration and most importantly have a giggle.
I can't recommend their forum any more highly enough.
