I just wondered if anyone else suffers badly at night time? The last 5 weeks or so i am in agony at night, the slightest movement of my lower back is awful, so moving onto my side for example is terrible. This stays with me for the morning too. Its nothing to do with our bed as we bought a decent mattress several years ago and i have never had this before, even with my discectomy L5/S1 i didn't have this. Its very strange, just getting fed up with it now. Any help would be great.

I find that a deep memory foam mattress is essential as it cushions the trauma of turning over and stops any bounce like a shock absorber.

That would be good, but i can't help but think this isn't normal, it used to be that being in bed was the best place for me to lie and now its the worst place, i don't think i should be in so much pain at night.

Hi Emma

Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. Maybe it has resolved by now?

If not, does coughing and sneezing make it worse?
Is lying down more painful than moving around?
Is it slowly getting progressively worse to lie down for any period of time?
Has an osteopath been unable to replicate the pain for diagnosis and not been able to help treat your problem?

If so let me know and I'll give you details of a couple of organisations that might be able to give you some information that might be relevant to your situation..
