Hello
For about 3 years I have been going to a Bowen lady who has treated me for a laterally tilted pelvis. When I get to her my right leg appears longer than the left and she straightens me out, which is fine. I also have a very tight hip flexor on the left hand side which pinches when bringing my leg to my chest.
I would very much like to;
find a good stretch for the hip flexor as the normal ones don't seem to hit the spot
and a good set of exercises to stabilise the pelvis
I am a sprint triathlete so swim regularly, an hour or so on the bike a week but due to the hip problem I cant run:(
Please help!
I attend a good pilates class weekly, have Bowen and a reflexology every 4 weeks
try a little bit of yoga but remember that you have to start gradually
Yes, definately Yoga. I would find an instructor who can help you. Also there is a DVD that is meant to be really good - Hip Helpers by Jill Miller. You can find it on Amazon.
(I am not an expert but have found these things really useful in my own Yoga)
I would suggest a deep lunge, stretching the effected hip flexor. This can also rectify the lateral tilt as the hamstrings are activated on the bent knee side.

Hi, unfortunately you seem to be doing things in the wrong order. By doing Pilates with a twisted or unstable pelvis or any other problem you will strengthen the body in your normal and therefore 'wrong' position. You need to normalise your body before any strength work can begin. You have gone to stage 2 of 3 and missed out stage 1
I hope this helps?
