Hi There
I am 16 days after surgery on my lower back.I had a spinal decompression and a discetomy.I had a tear in the spinal chord repaired as well.
I wasnt given any excersises from the physio so was wondering if anyone else has had the same op and has any advice fro me

Joyce,
I've moved your thread to the Back Problems forum as it's a more suitable place for it and you'll likely get more response there... erm... here.

Hello Joyce and welcome over here!! LOL:D
When I first saw your request, I didn't have anything to offer you, as I underwent
Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS), which allows for a more rebust post excercise regime. However, I was researching somthing else when this information (link below) popped up!
As far as I am aware, the radclffe group of hospitals carry out standard NHS spine surgery, such as Microdiscetomy and Laminotomy and though I am not sure what proceedure you underwent, I think this may be of use. Anyway, see what you think!!
Best wishes

My advice: do not rush with exercises and physical therapy.
Hi,
I am wth Keano on this. Perhaps if the physio didn't give you any exercises or advice perhaps that is because it is too soon? Are you seeing them again? Also, did you ask about a follow up routine when you saw them?
Re advice needed
Thanks to all who answered my message I am waiting for a return appointment to see the surgeon Maybe you are right it is a bit early to be doing physio.
Thanks Joyce
