sorry to post this again but the computer went funny just after the last time I posted this and so I didn't get any of your replies.

All I know about it is that it is a type of arthritis that travels around the body so will be in the knees one day and the hands the next.

Has anyone heard about this and/or know of any supplements etc that might help?

Sorry if you already replied but I never got to read your replies (although I know some of you did make postings as I got e-mails to tell me so)

Any info would be greatly welcome

Thanks LH - I don't know if they have tried this - it is the wife of the caretaker/security chap at the school where I teach yoga so I have cut and pasted your reply onto a word doc to take in for him.

thank you once again

RE: Arthritis in the Blood

Thank you, I have copied your response to a word doc too so I can take them to the chap for his wife. My friend also has arthritis (osteo) and I know she tries to cut out these things as much as possible and it has made a difference but I didn't know if it would make any difference to the 'travelling' sort.

thank you for your help

It's interesting that you list vinegar as one of the culprits when I've read that cider vinegar and honey taken daily can keep people free of arthritis!

P.S. Devil's Claw seems to be a popular remedy. Also Cod Liver Oil. [:'(]

Hello Petal!

Vinegar is a pure acid even if it is apple vinegar. Acids dissolve the
calcium in the body. I don't know anyone who has cured his arthritis or
arthrosis with vinegar. Do you? What I know is that a lot of people are
cured through a low-acid diet. In my book are about 50 letters published
from people who have completely recovered or who are improved a lot with the
low-acid diet. Cod liver oil is indeed a very good remedy for arthritis.

Good luck!

Jeanine

Jeanine,

Surely there's a difference between acidic foods and acid-producing foods?
Lemon juice is acidic but causes the digestive system to produce alkalides, whereas many fats are alkaline and cause a very acidic digestive system. The lymphatic system picks up the balance in order to conserve the correct pH in the blood and you end up with uric acid deposits in the joints, the crystals of which cause so much pain.

I was on an alkaline-promoting diet in '84-'85 for osteo-arthritis and it was partly based on the lists in a Hay diet book. I can't recommend it highly enough! Even one meal of correct food-combining makes you feel better (not mixing proteins and carbs; not mixing acid-producers and alkali-producers).
I take cider vinegar regularly (1tbsp in a tumbler of water) and it doesn't seem to have affected my acidity at all.

So I'd interpret a low-acid diet as one which includes mostly foods that stimulate the production of alkalis in the stomach, not necessarily foods which are themselves high-pH.
Does that make sense?

love and light,
BV

I would tend to agree with you on that one BigV. 😀

The issue is a lot more complex than that, but if we are to take the acid versus base idea, then yes it's more to do with the effect on the system & not simply that a substance is more acid or base. 😉

And.
