Is it possible to have an allergy to tap water

I'm generally healthy overall but i usually wake up feeling groggy like i have a hangover but when i drink just mineral water my head feel clear.

Filtered tap water doesnt seem to make a difference but i cant afford to keep drinking bottled water.

any advice appreciated 🙂

thanks

emma

I would speak to your water supplier and tell them. There may have been a leakage or something and you may not be the only person affected by this. Water companies do all sorts to the water before they send it to our taps, so to speak lol.

Either way I woudl tell your water supplier.

Tap water has Chlorine added to it, plus all sorts of other stuff like prozac and other chemicals.

I have always filtered my water with a charcoal filter. I used to use Brita, but since several years ago use a water ionizer - it filters, then ionizes the water. Ionized water is considered to have magical health giving properties.

Erm, who adds the Prozac ... and how? Do you have some evidence to support this claim?

It comes from the urine of the people that take it, which goes back into the water supply then returns in drinking water. I could give some links, but that wouldn't be appropriate - so just do a google search for "prozac in drinking water".

Of course prozac is not the only drug that people take or the only chemical substance that ends up in the tap water, which could be a cause of allergies and other problems to sensitive people.

The chemicals (chlorine, hormones, toxins) in water are in very small quantities, mind, however, one should use a good water filter to take such stuff out, just to be on the safe side.

I just googled as recommended and found this link - can't see why it's not 'appropriate':
A few years ago there was the scare about Britains menfolk being made infertile by the amount of contraceptive hormones in the water - does this mean that they are now infertile but chilled about it?!!?
When I was growing up, we lived in an old house with lead piping - the even older house I live in now has the original 18th century pot and lead piping. Luckily the water comes from a spring, so we are only minimally poisoned!

PS - I then found this link which negates the original claim!

Hi
I am a nutritionist and I regularly treat people for allergies including tap water. The best thing you can buy is a distiller, you can find them on ebay, about £100. This completely eradicates all the nasty stuff (including limescale).

To add onto the other's members good advice, it may be worth finding out if your tap water has had fluoride added, which may be the cause. From the evidence that I have seen, it causes many health disorders and some people are particularly sensitive to it.

maybe a little late but....

hey there... this might be a little late, but I came across this thread whilst searching for the same type of allergy myself!

Anyway - after a bit of research I've found about a product called a shower filter () which is basically a filtered shower head that you put in your shower and it filters your water, kinda like a brita water filter.

I'm looking forward to fitting it and hopefully it will resolve my problems!
