Hi
I've recently opened a hornets nest of food sensitivities and now have a long list of things I need to avoid and treat. As I'm doing this I'm discovering new sensitivites too that have been masked. I've realised that some of the things I need to avoid are in products I use for my skin, which has always been very sensitive and acne prone. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any products that I could use on my skin, primarily a cleaner and moisturiser.
I've been using green people moisturising shower gel and cool down moisturiser, both of which contain either sunflower or mint, things which I need to avoid. I need something without alcohol and all the usual harsh chemicals in mainstream products, and strong oils and fragrances I don't think help either.
Right now I seem to be needing to avoid almond, sunflower seeds, sugars, animal fat, dairy, sesame, nightshades, eggs, wheat, gluten.
I'd really appreciate any advice people may have.
thanks, Godzilla
Hi Godzilla. I am sorry to hear that you have developed so many allergies and it's so difficult to find products (and food) that don't upset you. Whilst I can't recommend a range of products that don't have ANY of the ingredients you could be allergic to, you could always make your own cleanser.
I use a mix of Aloe Vera and Jojoba oil (ratio 2 :1) and mix it up very vigorously to make a creamy texture. Nothing else needs to be added and if you make small pots, you don't need to worry about it going off. Also, if you are not allergic to apricot oil, you could use this instead of a moisturising cream (a very thin layer would be fine) or, you could carry on using the jojoba oil as a moisturiser if you prefer. As to toners, if you buy a natural, organic rosewater or orange water, they are alcohol free and very natural so you should haven't any problem. The great thing about these products are they will give you a lovely skin!
Hope this helps
Love
Thanks very much for your reply.
I'll give those a try.

I work in a dermatology clinic and Dermol lotion has had some positive feedback from the patients. It has a low sensitivity potential as it contains no fragrance, parabens, lanolin or wool alcohols. It also can be used as a soap substitute as well as a moisturiser.
It may be worth a try.

How about a nice facial serum made up of Jojoba, Argan oil, and Rosehip oil,
Vitamin E instead of moisturiser. Spritz with a toner made up of Roman Chamomile Hydrolat with Rose Geranium Hydrolat they are very gentle and balancing.

Hi guys,
thanks for all the advice. Fortunately I seem to have found some products that are really working. I've been using a rose cleanser and rose spritz from the Organic Pharmacy.
I met a friend last night who was amazed how healthy I was looking 🙂
