I've not read the other threads so please forgive me if this has already been said.

I was on a Business Link course a couple of months ago and one of the other participants was a bee keeper. She told me that eating local honey can be excellent for hayfever because it's made with the pollen of the plants/flowers in your local area, which are likely to be the ones you have an allergy too.

My hayfever hasn't been at all bad this year so I haven't tested the theory, but it makes perfect sense to me.

Yes, I've been using this remedy for several years now and my hayfever has been under control.

Hello urvashi and welcome to Healthypages. 🙂

Can you pinpoint the thread in which 'amythest' posted about diet, please? Perhaps we can then tie the two threads together.

Hello Fiona-McTavish and welcome to you too! 🙂

It does happen that a topic of interest will come to the fore from time to time, so some 'repetition' is almost inevitable, and you've linked to quite an old thread, though that does not of course make it irrelevant. 😉

You will see that I've already asked for some clarification in my post to urvashi.

I apologise, as I am just getting used to the set-out of this board, Of using forums for several years, I have never been on a board set out like this -- You read the posts from bottom to top instead of top to bottom. Therefore, I somehow read the wrong post. But nevertheless, giving people old-threads lets them read through replies that they may not have got in the same thread, perhaps I could have said "have alook for more information on Honey and Hayfever here."

I didn't realise how old the thread was, but in all saying it is still on the same page, I suppose I'm also used to all forums moving fast, with the assumption those still on the same page are very recent.

off topic, but just for explanation

Hi Fiona,

If you go to your User Control Panel -> Edit Options you will see a section called "Thread Display Options". In that section it the "Thread Display Mode". If you have this set to "Linear - Oldest First" then it will show the threads so that you are reading them downwards with the oldest posts at the top. Sounds as though you may have yours set to "Linear - Newest First" which is causing you to have to read from the bottom upwards.

😉

Having had an allergic reaction to a new hay fever medication recently I am now trying the 'local honey' approach. I visited the local farm shop and bought a jar of Cheshire honey and started taking one teaspoon in my bedtime drink on Sunday evening. Not noticed any benefit yet but early days. Will let you know how effective it is in due course!! 🙂

For my hayfever which i get rather bad at times.

I went dcotors they suppleid me with 30 hayfever tablets ( they acutallywork for me unlike the ones fromchemists & supermarkets ). I also use Beconase hayfever nasal spray. This can be bought from most chemists as far as i know.

Now I can walk about in summer feeling nice and clear.

Hope this gives any help.

As well as taking the local honey, it is a good idea to avoid dairy products like milk, cheese and yogurt as these can worsen your hayfever symptoms - Dairy products increase mucous production. There are quite a lot of herbal remedies on the market now - I use a tincture called Luffa which I have found to be very helpful with my hayfever. I have also found that Hopi Ear Candling has helped in the past.

I'm having really bad headaches at the moment with itchy ears and sore eyes with a bit of itchiness but no sneezing, runny eyes or runny nose - could this be hayfever - my headache has been here for 4 weeks now and I'm sick of it.

I have been getting a tightness and a dull ache in my chest. Been to the GP who thought it was inflamed rib cartiladges but a couple of weeks later and it's back. My mum mentioned yesterday that this could be due to Hayfever and i have started to use Beconase spray now, which is helping. Do you think this is a symptom or could it be a coincedence?
