If you are worried, then don't use it and only buy products from reputable companies.

If you are concerned about the quality of the product and are suspicious that it has been produced in a country that does not have proper quality control in place, or the tea may have been mixed with sub-standard or even unrelated products to bulk it out, then simply throw it away and don't buy anything from Ebay!

Maybe someone on this forum has experience of living in China and can give more insight. To be honest, your question is very general, and you didn't initially say where the product was sourced. I can only say again - if you are suspicious about the product then either don't order it, or, if it has arrived and you do not trust it's quality, do not use it.

I have friends who lived in Shanghai and Bejin for many years but not sure they could give more insight into the production methods of tea, as they were working in large cities and didn't have any contact with food production.

Hi sasiz

Why not email the supplier? They should know the quality of it. In the past it would have been vetted by one of the tea traders but I'm not sure this happens now. Is the writing in English or just Chinese? If it is in English this will mean it is for export and usually the quality is good.

Another indication is the cost. If it was very cheap, then the quality may be dubious. Expensive doesn't always signify quality, but often does.

Why not taste it? If it doesn't taste good - then dispose of it and next time buy form a reputable buyer ;).
