Dear All,
An article in today's 'Daily Mail' about allergies says that people are born with them, they don't develop over time, and those who claim that they had an allergy in childhood and then grew out of it, probably never had the allergy in the first place. Late onset allergic reactions are caused by changing chemical makeup, not because there are more allergy triggers about.
I don't know about this very much, but I have noticed that my pollen and cat allergies have become worse since I was a child. Has anyone any thoughts on this?
Love,
Patsy.

RE: Allergies
Me personally, I think it is down to being overly hygenic. We are not just clean these days we are anti bacterialy squeeky clean, we have anti bacteria sprays, anti allegen air freshners, and IMO we need afew nasties around us for our bodies to get used to and make defences accordingly, when triggers come along our body hasnt got the "tools" to battle the allergen.
A little bit o dirt never urt no one:D;)
Oh yeah, and central heating! It dries out my skin a treat, imagine what it does to my nasal passages and internal airways? now that cant be good can it?
Just my thoughts:eek::)

Agreed & not only is this no good for us, it eventually ends up down the drains in the bin etc & starts killing the enviroment.

RE: Allergies
I have not read the Daily Mail article but I don't believe allergies are all genetic.
No doubt the 'officials' would like us all to believe that we are born with allergies because it takes pressure off them having to do anything about all the pollution that's going into the environment! I don't pretend to be an expert but I do believe there are far too many chemicals being used in our homes and factories which then get pumped back into the rivers and seas. Then there is all the stuff they spray on our food and feed our cattle. And that's before we even think about all the petrol fumes from our cars.
Who can say what effect it's all having?

RE: Allergies
I think it just depends on what the 'trigger' is. I know for me, that I can't walk in a field at this time of year, and as for being around cats.....forget it! Cats are my worst trigger. However, I have no problem with household cleaners.
No, allergic reactions aren't genetic, IMO.
Love,
Patsy.

RE: Allergies
Hi
You know come to think of it , there might be something in this being born with it, certainly hypersensativities which can develop into allergies. I remember when i was pregnant with my twins (8 yrs ago)there was a lot of talk saying that if you ate a lot of certain foods during pregnancy that the chances of the baby being born with allergies or hypersensativities to thes foods was high.
Food for thought one might say;)
