I'm 19 and I can't breathe through my nose, almost 24/7. I also end up swallowing mucus and sometimes can't swallow at all. I have seasonal Allergies, no asthma, and I've tried everything. Shots, pills, ect. I've also had 2 nose surgeries to try and fix. Nothing helps. I live in the worst state for allergies, Washington state! That could be problem but I would like some opinions and solutions for this.:banghead:
Hi TJ94, welcome here!
Frustrating it is, the inability to breathe properly
You are young. Around that age I could have been writing this post only barring the allergies bitbecause I used to have had lots of cattarrh and sinus problems in early years. constant headaches. Catarrh used to develop into chesty coughs. I have seen many many many people suffer with mucous. According to Ayurveda It is some slight imbalance of doshas( similar to miazms in homeopathy).
Shankh mudra helped me a lot with sinus and throat infections., Linga mudra is another one to clear excessive mucous generation by the body.
Kapal Bhati is a pranayam, that helps generate body heat which puts an end to sinus and mucous.
Adding seasme seed, ginger, garlic, turmeric, chillies, spices in diet is beneficial for excessive mucous
Build up your immune system with good wholesome diet and exercise such as yoga etc. Generally being active releases chemicals that boost the general well being of body-mind.
Everything is a collective result of our life-style. A few small changes here and there can transform life altogether.
If I were you I wouldn't worry too much about allergens. Most dis- ease starts in mind. If you think too much about allergies...you will be sinking deeper into the diverse and wonderful world of allergies! Leace it alone, it will leave you alone.
Hope it helps
good luck
.
Certainly, if you've already tried the Western approach and that's failed (if that is the correct word to use), I'd be looking at a more holistic approach tackling the body and mind as above. 🙂
Taking the TCM slant, I'd be looking at making my body less yin (try introducing food like onions and ginger) but also looking at Louise Hay's book "Heal Your Body" for a psychological reason for this congestion.

Your absolutely right, the more I think about it the worse it is. Thats the main reason i get out and exercise ALOT. I will try adding those spices to my diet, I do cook alot of good food. Thanks
Have you tried Olbas Oil? Not THE answer but can definitely help clear the sinuses. And a few drops on the pillow at night can help with restful sleep.
Whenever I hear the words 'allergy' and 'mucus' I immediately think of milk! That stuff is linked to so many ailments...
Have you tried cutting out dairy?
