there seems to be quite a bit of press coverage about celebrities being addicted to pain killers lately. i just wondered how you know if you are addicted? i take quite a few painkillers for headaches. most days to be honest and almost every night. i have heard of daily headache syndrome due to regular pain killer use. is that what it means, or is it something else?

Poor you, apparently the majority of regular headaches are due to dehydration or wheat according to Mercola. Have you thought about trying to find out the cause rather than just treating the symptom?

I'm afraid I can't answer your question, Vicki, but I am alarmed to hear that you take painkillers every day. Surely this can't be good for you, whether or not you're addicted. As eszences says, it would be a good idea to find out why you're getting so many headaches and then treat the cause. Which painkillers are you taking? Why don't you google them along with 'side effects' and see what comes up?

Hi Vicki im sorry to say you are addicted,
if you read the solpadeine thread you will see all the explanation you need,
i was addicted to them for a couple of years for headaches too,
i took six tablets a day because i got a headache every four hours,
the funny thing is they stop the body making endorphins which kill any pain and take over and give you whats called rebound headaches,
paracetamol are the worst for this,
i gave up cold turkey about 3 months ago and while the first few days were tough i now never get headaches and i used to really suffer from them,
so my advice to you is give them up straight away cold turkey and never go back,
good luck
