After having a discussion here and elsewhere, I feel a little frustrated with some of the discussion about ibogaine. I get this is a murky grey area, so I am not trying to argue that people did not pass away from the treatment – but there might have other circumstances that led to the issue. That is like saying that suboxone would be a ‘harmless treatment.
One of my primary issues with the use of ibogaine and the way that people talk about it is that it might benefit from a little more mainstream research, because it is not a brand-new, concept at rapidly interrupting addiction. It works for a large percentage of the people who have tried it.
It just frustrates me to see that some people are comfortable shutting down the conversation when it is obvious that people can benefit.
Any psycho active substance......or indeed any active drug of any sort....is always going to have unwanted effects. There is no such thing as an active drug with no side effects.
What benefit do you think people can get from Ibogaine? Does it offer any advantage over already drugs?
Just reading the statistics makes it sound as though this is something that we should at LEAST explore, but shutting down conversation just seems like the wrong thing to do on so many different levels
But if I turn round and say 'that is not considered good evidence so it cannot be taken seriously' do you think i am shutting down the conversation because I don't agree with you?
And you haven't answered my question about the benefits you feel Ibogaine offers......which is really the only issue I can enter into a conversation with you about 🙂
