Does food control your life?
80% of the British population has some sort of controlling issue with food – making mealtimes a nightmare.
The BBC are making a brand new documentary series about people with psychological eating problems.
The six-part series for BBC3 will follow people whose relationship with food has a negative impact on their lives.
The show will not be looking at eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia, but more typically at people who severely limit the types of food they eat.
So far, the sorts of people our research has found include a man who only eats spaghetti hoops on toast, a woman who liquidizes all her food, and a man who carries around a bottle of tomato ketchup and pours it all over every meal. Over 6 weeks each individual will work closely with leading health professionals to explore their relationship with food and attempt to find a realistic and lasting solution to their eating problems.
If you, or someone you know needs to come out about their food obsession, and would benefit from one to one help, please call Hannah on 0207 290 0530 or email food@bettytv.co.uk
Or look for more details on the BBC Three website, where you can find Food Controls My Life in the TV Programmes section.

RE: New BBC3 Series: Food Controls My Life
Thanks for that one Mike!
The BBC are making a brand new documentary series about people with psychological eating problems.
My initial thoughts can we assume that the problem is psychological?
Then I saw this -
So far, the sorts of people our research has found include a man who only eats spaghetti hoops on toast, a woman who liquidizes all her food
And thought - okay, well maybe, but this -
a man who carries around a bottle of tomato ketchup and pours it all over every meal.
Well, then that's probably a case of an addiction due to an allergy to one of the ingredients. Tomato (nightshade veg) or just sugar?
I know a ketchup freak, but will they have treatment for it? - No chance!
I'll check the link before I dig a hole for myself.
And.

Hi Andrew,
You made reference to the ketchup thing- I knew someone with OCD and used to have this as one of her behaviours, so there can be other causes too.
