Hi All

I gave up smoking last year and it was amazing - i lasted six months. I never thought i would ever start again - i could go out to pubs/sit withchain smoking friends and did not have the temptation. I then moved to SA to join my fiance and he started again so in a time of stress from the lack of things to do here and feeling a bit down - i lit up and slowly but surely i started to smoke regulary again... arrrrggghhhhhh [:@]

I have now given up again - it will be 2 weeks at the weekend and going strong. I hope I never relapse again - so stupid of me. Never give up giving up... filthy habit. I feel and look much better already. The weight was creeping back on and my skin looked pretty terrible but in this small time of giving up - I have a healthy glow and I am back on track with the correct food/exercise. When i am not smoking i seem to feel much more confident and achieve more... strange but true... 🙂

Well done Vixster!

Dont beat yourself up about your last quit and relapse - it wont help.
Just learn from it - another step on your quitting journey.

Let us know how you are getting on,

annie

Well done for deciding to stop smoking again:).

Reward yourself with a treat at 6 weeks and again at 6 months and you will most likely get a great boost from it and have enough momentum to carry on. Use some or all of the money you will have saved from not smoking for the treat, that way you know that it is directly consequential from stopping smoking. That will give you a buzz.

Hugs
Steve

Thanks Guys

Feeling good! I had a few hopeless attemtps over the last couple of months and could not get past the weekends but nearly at the two weeks point - i have already booked myself a little early treat - going for a nice detox mud bath on Saturday... should be lovely (any excuse to treat myself ;))

Laser therapy - never heard of that before - sounds fascinating.

Thanks again for all the encouragement, Vix x

Good for you, Vixster, and do keep it up!! 13 years ago yesterday I got soooo pee'd off with myself for smoking and the craving and smell etc that I vowed to give it up the following morning. I did, and haven't looked back, but do have another addictive hobby - golf!!!

We're all cheering for you Vix! 2 years in September for me, cold turkey with my husband still smoking away.

Best wishes for continued success!

GOOD FOR U VIX!!!
I've heard it takes 21 days for a habit. Good or bad, addiction is a tough one to stop but once u have control of it,its down hill from there. Keep up the fight.

Thanks all... I am feeling very strong. All is going well. Managed to sit at a bbq on Saturday with everyone smoking and no temptation whatsoever... I just stuck to soft drinks so as not to weaken under the influence of a glass of wine or two 😉
