I had about 4 Scenar treatments for a broken bone in foot about 2 months ago. Each time, I experienced a strange metallic taste in my mouth and became very aware of my amalgam fillings. The feeling dissipated after the session and I didn't think any more of it. My foot did improve but I don't know if I can attribute this to the Scenar or to ongoing physio.
In the meantime, I have experienced extreme sensitivity in a top and bottom molar for the last few weeks as well as this metallic feeling. I think this has been set off by the Scenar treatment. My dentist is talking about either replacing on the fillings with a crown or possibly taking the nerve out. Help!
I would really welcome feedback on this and whether anyone else has experienced something similar. I have googled this problem but to no avail.
Thanks.
Since you make a direct correlation between when you had these treatments and the metallic taste sensation, I would ask the relevant staff there about this. For instance, if it is a side effect and one that will ease off in time. Were you not given a leaflet describing the treatment and what it might entail, e.g. after effects?
I was told there would be no side effects. A little tricky as it was a friend who did the treatment and I can't prove that the sensitive teeth are directly related to Scenar.
