Reiki Pixie I am with you. Obama was (and is) a good man I am sure. But the nobel peace prize was awarded before he had the chance to do anything......I don't buy into the 'Saint' Obama story....

I never said he was a saint but I cut him more slack than Reiki Pixie has done in that he cannot be held solely responsible for what occurred during his presidency, i.e. major decisions may be made that he did not wholly support but, as the President, he had to sign for these directions to occur. Like I said, he wanted to close Guantanamo Bay but was not allowed to was he? Clearly he has less power than we suppose and is, himself, being answerable to Congress.

Personally, I real excited about President Trump appointing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head up a new commission on vaccine safety and scientific integrity.

Really? You think presidents and prime ministers have never lied to us before?

No. I don't. But we have now moved into an era when politicians (and others) not only lie but are not bothered at all about being caught out. They simply brazen it out. The point is that those who have lied have pretended to be telling the truth in the past. There are those - not only Trump, I agree - who lie because there seems to be no concern for the existence of truth. There is simply opinion, and one person's is as good as another, regardless of evidence, regardless of whether or not the person talking has any knowledge of what s/he is talking about.

Me neither. I do not think the man has to be perfect just because I think Trump is bad news. Nor do I think Clinton - or, indeed, Sanders - were wonderful. But Trump is worse.

I assume then that you are anti-vaccine? (Unless you are being sarcastic?)

"U.S. President Donald Trump has signed executive orders to move forward on construction of two controversial oil pipelines that affect Canada, giving his OK to the Keystone XL and Dakota Access projects"

No surprise since he doesn't care about climate change.

Although Trump has been doing a lot of signing recently, it's worth noting that none of these has yet been approved by Congress.

Also, in the link it says

The stroke of Trump's pen doesn't mean the Keystone XL project is a done deal. While the governor of Nebraska, Pete Ricketts, said the pipeline would create jobs in the state and bring tax relief to counties along the route, he added that state regulators must still conduct their own review of the project.

Thanks.
In any commission, it would be nice to think the results might be based on other than predjudice, however. Questions like this need scientific evidence and discussion, from people who have not already made their minds up.

You could take that position on either side of the debate. There are studies that have been carried out that show unvaccinated children are healthier than vaccinated children.

At the very least, vaccination should be the choice of the parent.

I'm not taking a side in the debate. All I'm saying is that a commission should be made up of people who will look, with an open mind, at all the evidence; not people who are well known to have already decided one way or the other before the commission starts.

Whether I agree or disagree with your stance on vaccination makes no difference.

He won't like that. he seems to react strongly to anything he sees as portraying him as less than perfect.

Exactly...very immature and defensive. He'll probably say it's 'alternative facts'!
