I know this is not new to the news but I have just watched morning tv, and I am heart broken to see yet more so called care workers abusing the elderly. I feel physically sick, the thought of being trapped in such horrific circumstances must be the worst thing imaginable. What kind of scum can do this, do they not think they will ever get old or be in pain, two years in prison is an insult. These people should be branded 'abuser' right across their forehead.
Every year we have Children in Need which is very admirable but maybe this should alternate each year to Elderly in Need.

Very sad. Elderly , children and disabled can be at the receiving end of atrocious behaviour of those who care for them.
It is all to do with our sub-humanity. We as a collective need a consciousness that is compassionate as in patience and thoughtfulness. But the demons come out to play....that is the state of our collective consciousness. I don't feel it's due to lack of funds. I think it is due to lack of humanity

How in your view a charity for elderly be of help?

At least now they are more likely to get caught, i.e. with hidden cameras. I agree that is the lowest of the low to abuse those that cannot defend themselves. When I see such items on the news I can only bare to watch it very briefly as it is so painful.

Hello Jnani, I agree wholeheartedly it is a total lack of humanity. Paying better wages to such people will not suddenly change their evil ways.
With regards to charity for the elderly, just as with 'children in need' money could be used to pay for so many things, days out, entertainment, stimulation, comforts, costs of installation of cameras throughout every single care home.

Amy, like you, this came on tv this morning and I knew the moment I heard them say 'some viewers may find it upsetting' I should have jumped up and turned it off, but then again I suppose we really can't hide away from this kind of thing and maybe it should be highlighted more or things will basically be swept under the carpet.
